...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 300 PM PDT
FOR CENTRAL ELKO COUNTY...

At 200 PM PDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Spring Creek,
and is nearly stationary.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. Significant 
         accumulating hail is occurring with this storm. Hail will 
         cover roads and make conditions slick. Slow down when 
         encountering hail. 

SOURCE...Trained weather spotters. 

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to 
         roofs, siding, and trees. 

Locations impacted include...
Lamoille and Spring Creek.

...THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR CENTRAL ELKO COUNTY WILL
EXPIRE AT 300 PM PDT...
                
The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe
limits, and no longer poses an immediate threat to life or property.
Therefore the warning will be allowed to expire.  However gusty winds
and heavy rain are still possible with this thunderstorm.

Elko Nevada.

.SYNOPSIS...Unsettled weather will continue across the Great Basin
region through Memorial Day. A low pressure system will continue
to move through the Silver State today. Showers and thunderstorms
will pop up again and some storms could produce small marble-
sized hail. The strongest storms today are expected to occur
across Eureka County and Elko County.

.SHORT TERM...Today through Friday. KLRX WSR-88D radar is still
down for repairs. Satellite imagery shows substantial clearing
across central Nevada this morning and some convergence over the
northwest part of the LKN CWFA. There are lingering lightning
strikes in a line of showers stretching from Pershing County
through northwestern Elko County at this time. Model agreement is
pretty good moving this trough through Nevada and into Utah.

A closed low pressure circulation will move through central
Nevada today and dissolve into an open trough. With the axis of
the trough slowly moving east across eastern Nevada today, storms
will redevelop, with the strongest storms expected to occur from
Grass Valley near Eureka through Mountain City in northwest Elko
County this afternoon, including the stretch from Battle Mountain
to Wells. The main threat will be gusty outflow winds, brief heavy
downpours, and small marble-sized hail. High temperatures will be
in the 60s. Low temperatures will range from the mid 30s to the
mid 40s.

.LONG TERM...Friday night through next Wednesday.

Showers will be ending Friday night. Shower coverage continues to
look to lighten some on Saturday, but is short lived as the next
system quickly begins to develop off of the coast on Sunday. This
will keep showers and afternoon thunderstorms, possibly strong at
times, probable through at least the middle of next week as the
system slowly moves through the Great Basin. Temperatures will be
near normal, with high temperatures ranging from the mid 60s to
the mid 70s. Low temperatures may be a bit cooler Friday night
with some better clearing expected, with some valleys dropping
into the 30's. Otherwise, lows will be mainly in the 40's for the
remainder of the long term period with more clouds expected.

.AVIATION...Thunderstorms will redevelop this afternoon and
evening across northern and central Nevada. Strongest storms look
to effect KEKO, KBAM, and possibly KWMC, with erratic wind gusts
to around 50 mph and small hail. Lower confidence that storms will
develop near KELY, but still a possibility. KTPH will remain dry
and breezy.

This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of Nevada...north
central Nevada...northeast Nevada...northwest Nevada and south
central Nevada.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.

Low pressure will be moving through the state today producing more
showers and thunderstorms. The strongest storms should be in a
swath stretching from Grass Valley near Eureka to Mountain City in
Elko County, including Carlin and Elko. Some of the storms could
produce frequent lightning, brief heavy showers and small marble-
sized hail as well as gusty outflow winds.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday.

The unsettled weather pattern will continue through the middle of
next week.

At 131 PM PDT, a strong thunderstorm was located 22 miles east of
Jackpot. the storm is nearly stationary.

Winds in excess of 30 mph, pea size hail and brief heavy rainfall
are possible with this storm.

This storm will remain over mainly rural areas of northeastern
Northern Elko County County.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL AFFECT SOUTH CENTRAL ELKO COUNTY...

At 147 PM PDT, a strong thunderstorm was located over Spring Creek.
the storm is nearly stationary.

Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail are possible with this
storm. Significant accumulating hail is possible with this storm.
Hail will cover roadways and they will become slick. Slow down when
encountering hail covered roads .

Locations impacted include...
Lamoille, Jiggs, South Fork, Spring Creek, Lee, Lamoille Summit and
Lamoille Canyon.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may cause
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
