Scattered very light showers being observed on radar this
afternoon will continue to move across the area from west to east
through the overnight hours as moisture continues to increase
through the atmosphere. OVC VFR ceilings will prevail through the
night before lowering to MVFR Friday morning. Ceilings will then
alternate between MVFR and IFR Friday afternoon into Friday night
as widespread showers overtake the region in association with an
approaching low pressure area.

Winds will remain light out of the southeast through the night
before increasing somewhat during the day Friday with the approach
of the low pressure area.

DISCUSSION...
Sfc analysis this afternoon shows that our high has pushed off to
the east, now centered over the sern CONUS with low-level flow
gradually veering to a serly direction. Water vapor imagery shows
a zonal flow now in place aloft with our long awaited storm
system now moving ashore along the srn CA coast. Regional 88Ds
plenty of light returns now encroaching on the wrn 1/2 of the
forecast area, but sfc obs indicate just spotty very light rain
associated with it as moistening through the column is only now
beginning.

No significant changes to forecast thinking this afternoon. As
moistening continues through the column, showers will keep
developing to our west and shift ewd. Showers become more
widespread across the forecast area tomorrow as lift continues to
increase ahead of the advancing swrn CONUS storm system. This
system is progged to help spin up a low along the sfc boundary
over the nwrn Gulf or extreme sern TX Friday night into early
Saturday. Forecast soundings continue to show copious moisture in
place, along with good lift, thus periods of heavy rain are
expected beginning Friday night over sern TX, gradually shifting
ewd through the day on Saturday. Storm total QPFs of 3 to 5 inches
look common with isolated higher amounts likely, especially over
interior sern TX...therefore a Flash Flood Watch has been issued
for the entire area beginning at 00z/18L tomorrow and running for
24 hours.

As of now, the severe threat continues to look fairly slim despite
ridiculous shear noted in forecast soundings. As mentioned
previously, sfc-based instability continues to look very weak.
Thus thunder wording has been held at a slight chance and mainly
near the coast and Acadiana.

Rain ends from west to east on Saturday as the storm system pulls
an associated cold front across the region. In its wake,
drier/colder/breezier conditions are expected. Highs Sunday are
only expected to hit the upper 40s/lower 50s, with wind chills
down into the lower/mid 40s. As sfc high pressure pushes gradually
ewd and a cold Canadian airmass settles over the region, lows are
expected to bottom out in the lower/mid 30s for Tuesday morning
before the high slides east and return flow commences a warm up.

Timing differences remain with the approach/passage of our next
storm system next week and have led to holding a small POP for
the entire area for the end of the forecast period.

MARINE...
Caution headlines were inserted for this evening over the wrn
outer block for increasing onshore flow this evening. After a
brief relaxation, srly flow will strengthen in response to a
tightening gradient ahead of low pressure development over sern TX
or the adjacent nwrn Gulf. SCA conditions look likely late Friday
into Saturday before the low/cold front pass and a strong
offshore flow develops in its wake.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of central
Louisiana, south central Louisiana, southwest Louisiana, west
central Louisiana, and southeast Texas.

.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight

Light showers ahead of an approaching upper level trof will move
into interior southeast Texas and portions of central Louisiana by
late tonight. No significant weather is expected.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday

Widespread and heavy rains are expected to develop late Friday and
continue into Saturday as the storm system approaches the region.
Rain amounts of 3 to 5 inches will be common with isolated higher
amounts expected. WPC has placed much of southeast Texas as well
as extreme western Louisiana within a slight risk of excessive
rains for late Friday, then expanding the slight risk for Saturday
across much of the forecast area. A Flash Flood Watch has been
issued for the entire forecast area, effective 6 pm Friday and
lasting through Saturday afternoon.

There is a very limited threat for severe weather with this
system. Veering wind fields remain impressive, including a low
level jet overspreading the area while lift remains substantial.
However instability remains very limited. Should a threat develop,
it would likely be along and south of the Interstate 10 corridor.
