.UPDATE...
Cloudy skies thru the day as southerly winds have become
established around the backside of the sfc high exiting the mid-
Atlantic states attm. Aftn temps mid 60s inland to near 70 at the
beaches and along the I-10 corridor. Look for a few shwrs drg the
aftn and eve hours. Current zones are fine no updates planned.

It is going to be a wet Saturday with pops trending downward
on Sunday. The front is projected to move thru around sunrise on
Sunday... the question still remains "frontal timing" and how
much and how fast drier air becomes established.

AVIATION...
Active southern jet will help bring moisture across the forecast
area and over-riding a coastal trough. This will allow cloud cover
to persist with cloud bases occasionally at MVFR levels. Tonight,
as upper level disturbance approaches, deeper moisture will move
into the region. This will help lower ceilings further to IFR
levels with widespread shower activity developing after 10/06Z.

DISCUSSION...

Short Term (Today through Sunday)

There has not been an major changes in thinking with regards to
the forecast through the weekend. Other than some minor
adjustments to PoPs and QPF, the inherited forecast for the short
term period remains largely unchanged.

Return flow will develop later today and usher in greater deep
layer moisture into the area. Model guidance continues to indicate
PWAT will exceed +2 sigma compared to climatological values. The
combination of abnormally high PWAT, an environment supportive of
parcel ascent, and a deep warm cloud layer will support efficient
rainfall production by convection that will occur during the short
term period. WPC continues to highlight portions of the area in a
Marginal Risk for flash flooding on Friday and Saturday.
Therefore, while widespread flooding is not expected, a few
locations could experience localized flooding.

The cold front is expected to sweep through the area Sunday. This
will result in highest rainfall chances shifting east of the area.
As was the case with the last frontal passage, overrunning
precipitation will result in rainfall chances lingering late
Sunday into Monday.

Long Term (Monday through Friday)

Model guidance indicates a longwave trough will develop over the
western CONUS by the middle of next week. Mid-level ridging in
advance of the upper level trough will develop over the Gulf of
Mexico. While the ridge will result in decreasing rainfall
chances through the week, at least a slight chance of
precipitation will linger with above normal climatological PWAT
values across the region.

MARINE...

Onshore winds will develop later today and continue through the
weekend ahead of another cold front that is expected on Sunday.
Warm, moist air moving over the cooler Gulf waters could result in
areas of sea fog tonight. Moderate to strong offshore flow will
develop behind the front, gradually diminishing by early next
week. The chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms will likely
persist through the period.
