* At  7:45 PM Thursday the stage was 100.3 feet.
* Major flooding is occurring and Major flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 97.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 101.5 feet by 
  tomorrow morning then begin falling.
* Impact...At stages near 102.0 feet...Numerous homes and camps are 
  flooded, including elevated structures have a few feet of water in 
  them.
* Impact...At stages near 101.0 feet...Major flooding is occurring 
  around much of the lake. Several elevated structures will have 
  water in them, with many more cutoff. Water covers Highway 394, 2 
  to 3 feet deep in the lowest spots. Highway 113 downstream of 
  Bundicks Lake will likely be covered with water.
* Impact...At stages near 100.0 feet...Major flooding can be 
  expected. Numerous homes and camps are flooded around the lake. 
  Water covers Highway 394 on the west end of the lake. Highway 113 
  downstream of Bundicks Lake is subject to flooding.
* Impact...At stages near 99.0 feet...Moderate flooding begins. 
  Several roads around the lake become flooded. Flood waters begin to
  get onto Highway 394. Highway 113 downstream of Bundick Lake may 
  have water begin to flow over the road.
* Impact...At stages near 98.0 feet...Minor flooding begins around 
  the south end of the lake. Some of the lowest structures on the 
  north end of the lake begin to flood.
* Impact...At stages near 97.0 feet...Minor flooding begins around 
  the lake, especially the north end of the lake.
* Impact...At stages near 95.0 feet...Elevation of the spillway.

* At  7:45 PM Thursday the stage was 13.5 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Major flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 18.5 feet by 
  Saturday early afternoon then begin falling.
* Impact...At stages near 19.0 feet...When the river is rising and 
  forecast to reach 19 feet at Glenmora, flooding of several 
  structures near Beechwood Church is possible.
* Impact...At stages near 18.0 feet...Numerous roads near the river 
  are closed, including Highway 112 which is flooded for about 1.5 
  miles between Highway 121 and Beechwood Church. Major flood damage 
  downstream will occur downstream of the gauge.
* Impact...At stages near 16.0 feet...When the river is rising and 
  forecast to reach 16 feet, portions of Highway 112 between Highway 
  121 and Beechwood Church is subject to flooding.
* Impact...At stages near 15.0 feet...Flooding of secondary roads 
  near the river and its tributaries begins, including Ashmore Road. 
  Strothers Crossing Road near Calcasieu and Price Crossing Road near
  Hineston have several feet of water over them and subject to 
  washouts.
* Impact...At stages near 14.0 feet...Some roads upstream from 
  Glenmora, including Strothers Crossing Road near the community of 
  Calcasieu and Price Crossing Road near Hineston have two to three 
  feet of water over the road and are subject to being closed. 
  Flooding of forested areas near the river will also occur.
* Impact...At stages near 12.0 feet...When the river is rising and 
  the gauge reading is forecast to reach 12 feet or higher. Roads 
  upstream from Glenmora, including Strothers Crossing Road near the 
  community of Calcasieu and Price Crossing Road near Hineston have 
  water on them and are subject to being closed. Also, flooding of 
  forested areas near the river will occur.

  of sewage plant and approximately 30 homes begin to flood.
* Impact...At stages near 14.0 feet...Low secondary roads near the 
  river begin to flood. Several houses in close proximity to the 
  river are subject to flooding.

* Impact...At stages near 21.5 feet...Two feet of water over Old 
  Pump Road and Kinder Cemetery Road. The Old Pump Road Bridge over 
  the Calcasieu River begins to flood.
* Impact...At stages near 19.5 feet...Lowland sections of Old Pump 
  Road, Kinder Cemetery Road, and Nevils Bluff Road begin to flood.
* Impact...At stages near 18.0 feet...If gage reading at Kinder 
  reaches 18 feet, flooding begins to cut off some of the roads 
  around Topsy in Northwest Jefferson Davis Parish.

* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 5.0 feet.
* Forecast...rise above flood stage late this evening and 
  crest near 7.5 feet Friday evening.
* Impact...At stages near 8.0 feet...Upstream from Sam Houston Jones
  State Park, water across low spots of Cypress Lake Drive.
* Impact...At stages near 6.5 feet...Portions of South Perkins Ferry
  Road become impassable. Recreational areas in Sam Houston Jones 
  State Park are under water, including the playground and campsites 
  nearest the river.
* Impact...At stages near 5.0 feet...Low spots on South Perkins 
  Ferry Road have water on it. Water is over some boat docks on South
  Perkins Ferry Road and over boat ramps at Sam Houston Jones State 
  Park. Extensive marshland flooding will occur upstream and 
  downstream from the park.

* Flood stage is 4.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 6.9 feet by 
  Tuesday evening. Additional rises may be possible thereafter.
* Impact...At stages near 7.0 feet...Lower end of Pickrel Lane near 
  the river begins to flood. Goos Ferry Road is impassable. Closure 
  of the Calcasieu River to recreational boat traffic is likely from 
  the Saltwater Barrier to the parish line.
* Impact...At stages near 6.0 feet...Goos Ferry Road becomes 
  impassable. Calcasieu River from the Saltwater Barrier to the 
  parish line may be closed to recreational boat traffic.
* Impact...At stages near 5.0 feet...Water over lowest portions of 
  Goos Ferry Road. Cars should be moved to higher ground.
* Impact...At stages near 4.0 feet...Minor flooding of Goos Ferry 
  Road will occur.

* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 36.2 feet by 
  early Sunday morning then begin falling.
* Impact...At stages near 36.0 feet...Major lowland flooding will 
  occur. Sabine Sands Road has about one to three feet of water 
  covering the road.
* Impact...At stages near 35.0 feet...Expect several secondary roads
  in the Merryville area near the river to be closed.
* Impact...At stages near 33.0 feet...Moderate lowland flooding will
  occur. Low-lying roads and a few homes have some flooding between 
  Bon Wier and Merryville. Camp houses along the river in Southwest 
  Vernon Parish begin to flood.
* Impact...At stages near 32.0 feet...Roads in the Sabine Sands area
  near Bon Wier become flooded.
* Impact...At stages near 30.0 feet...Minor lowland flooding will 
  occur along the river between Merryville and Bon Wier. A few roads 
  in Southwest Vernon Parish have water over them.

* Flood stage is 24.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 27.3 feet by 
  Tuesday morning then begin falling.
* Impact...At stages near 27.0 feet...Widespread moderate lowland 
  flooding will occur. Homes in Deweyville closest to the river are 
  flooded. Flooding of homes in the Indian Lakes and River Oaks 
  sections will also occur. Low-lying roads and a few homes in 
  Southwest Beauregard Parish have some flooding.
* Impact...At stages near 26.8 feet...Deweyville schools may be 
  closed due to school bus routes being flooded.
* Impact...At stages near 26.0 feet...Moderate lowland flooding will
  occur. The lowest homes between Deweyville and the river begin to 
  flood, especially in the Indian Lakes and River Oaks sections. 
  Low-lying roads and a few homes in Southwestern Beauregard Parish 
  have some flooding.
* Impact...At stages near 25.0 feet...Lowest roads beside the river 
  flood around Deweyville and subject to being closed. In addition, 
  low-lying roads in Southwest Beauregard Parish are flooded 
  including Robert Clark Road. Flooding occurs on the south side of 
  Niblett Bluff Park with access roads to camp houses cut off around 
  the park. Access roads to the river in Northeastern Orange County 
  become flooded.
* Impact...At stages near 24.0 feet...Minor lowland flooding will 
  occur.

* Moderate flooding is occurring and Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 6.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 7.5 feet  after
  midnight tomorrow then begin falling.
* Impact...At stages near 7.0 feet...Buildings at the foot of Ann 
  Street on the river side of the flood wall will flood as water 
  overtops the Rio Oil Company dock. Buildings on the river side of 
  the Berwick floodwall will flood. River traffic restrictions will 
  be strictly enforced. In addition, backwater flooding could 
  potentially impact portions areas around Lake Palourde and 
  Stephensville.
* Impact...At stages near 6.0 feet...Flood stage. The city dock will
  be under water. Water will cover the lower end of Belleview Front 
  Street in Berwick. Vessel traffic will be affected by stronger 
  river current and vessel traffic safety rules will be strictly 
  enforced by the U.S. Coast Guard.
* Impact...At stages near 5.0 feet...Floodwall gates will be closed 
  to protect against higher stages. Vessel traffic will be affected 
  by stronger river current and vessel traffic safety rules will be 
  strictly enforced by the U.S. Coast Guard.
* Impact...At stages near 4.0 feet...Action stage. Water will move 
  up the bank and across access roads below the city dock. Floodwall 
  gates should be closed by the 5 foot stage to protect against 
  higher stages. Vessel traffic will be affected by stronger river 
  current and vessel traffic safety rules will be strictly enforced 
  by the U.S. Coast Guard.

  Monday evening.

  of the January 1998 flood event.

  the bayou begins at this level.

  Neches, Barlow Lake and Sheffields Ferry communities. Some homes 
  may become flooded as well, especially in the Barlow Lake 
  community.
* Impact...At stages near 70.0 feet...Flooding can be expected 
  around Barlow Lake and Brushy Lake with some roads being cutoff and
  some of the lowest properties near the river begin to flood.

* Impact...At stages near 8.0 feet...Widespread flooding, especially
  in Northwest Orange County from Lake View downstream to the 
  Saltwater Barrier. Several homes and camps are flooded or 
  threatend.
* Impact...At stages near 7.0 feet...Water begins to go over Bigner 
  Road into the saltwater barrier. Water also cuts off most access to
  the Four Oaks Ranch Road downstream of Four Oaks boat launch.

* At  8:00 AM Thursday the stage was 3.3 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 4.0 feet.
* Forecast...rise above flood stage by tomorrow afternoon and 
  continue to rise to near 7.2 feet by Tuesday early afternoon. 
  additional rises are possible thereafter.
* Impact...At stages near 7.5 feet...Moderate flooding is occurring.
  River levels are near those reached during Tropical Storm Allison 
  in June 2001. Flooding of Colliers Ferry Park and secondary roads 
  near the river can be expected.
* Impact...At stages near 7.0 feet...Moderate flooding is occurring.
  Colliers Ferry Park is under water, and flooding of secondary roads
  near the river can be expected.
* Impact...At stages near 4.0 feet...Minor flooding of Beaumont 
  Country Club and Colliers Ferry Park can be expected. Also flooding
  in Northwest Orange County south of River Oaks to Bunns Bluff can 
  be expected. Water may go over Four Oaks Ranch Road in Northwest 
  Orange County.

* Impact...At stages near 22.0 feet...Water covers entire floor of 
  Farm to Market Road 418. Water threatens homes near the creek in 
  Kountze. Significant flooding occurs in Village Creek State Park.
* Impact...At stages near 21.9 feet...At this level, water will be 
  flowing over the Highway 418 bridge.
* Impact...At stages near 20.0 feet...Water begins to flow over the 
  bridge on Farm to Market Road 418. Water also begins to cover F.M. 
  418 at several other locations. Road in Village Creek State Park 
  begins to have water across it.

  Bridge in Lumberton. Significant backwater flooding of homes and

  flooded, including elevated structures have a few feet of water in 
  them.
* Impact...At stages near 101.0 feet...Major flooding is occurring 
  around much of the lake. Several elevated structures will have 
  water in them, with many more cutoff. Water covers Highway 394, 2 
  to 3 feet deep in the lowest spots. Highway 113 downstream of 
  Bundicks Lake will likely be covered with water.
* Impact...At stages near 100.0 feet...Major flooding can be 
  expected. Numerous homes and camps are flooded around the lake. 
  Water covers Highway 394 on the west end of the lake. Highway 113 
  downstream of Bundicks Lake is subject to flooding.

* Impact...At stages near 27.0 feet...Widespread moderate lowland 
  flooding will occur. Homes in Deweyville closest to the river are 
  flooded. Flooding of homes in the Indian Lakes and River Oaks 
  sections will also occur. Low-lying roads and a few homes in 
  Southwest Beauregard Parish have some flooding.
* Impact...At stages near 26.8 feet...Deweyville schools may be 
  closed due to school bus routes being flooded.
* Impact...At stages near 26.0 feet...Moderate lowland flooding will
  occur. The lowest homes between Deweyville and the river begin to 
  flood, especially in the Indian Lakes and River Oaks sections. 
  Low-lying roads and a few homes in Southwestern Beauregard Parish

* Impact...At stages near 7.0 feet...Buildings at the foot of Ann 
  Street on the river side of the flood wall will flood as water 
  overtops the Rio Oil Company dock. Buildings on the river side of 
  the Berwick floodwall will flood. River traffic restrictions will 
  be strictly enforced. In addition, backwater flooding could 
  potentially impact portions areas around Lake Palourde and 
  Stephensville.
* Impact...At stages near 6.0 feet...Flood stage. The city dock will
  be under water. Water will cover the lower end of Belleview Front 
  Street in Berwick. Vessel traffic will be affected by stronger 
  river current and vessel traffic safety rules will be strictly 
  enforced by the U.S. Coast Guard.

  Hineston have several feet of water over them and subject to

  feet of water over the road and are subject to being closed.

  Street on the river side of the flood wall will flood as water 
  overtops the Rio Oil Company dock. Buildings on the river side of 
  the Berwick floodwall will flood. River traffic restrictions will 
  be strictly enforced. In addition, backwater flooding could 
  potentially impact portions areas around Lake Palourde and 
  Stephensville.
* Impact...At stages near 6.0 feet...Flood stage. The city dock will
  be under water. Water will cover the lower end of Belleview Front 
  Street in Berwick. Vessel traffic will be affected by stronger 
  river current and vessel traffic safety rules will be strictly 
  enforced by the U.S. Coast Guard.
* Impact...At stages near 5.0 feet...Floodwall gates will be closed 
  to protect against higher stages. Vessel traffic will be affected

  potentially impact portions areas around Lake Palourde and 
  Stephensville.

  be under water. Water will cover the lower end of Belleview Front 
  Street in Berwick. Vessel traffic will be affected by stronger 
  river current and vessel traffic safety rules will be strictly 
  enforced by the U.S. Coast Guard.

  to protect against higher stages. Vessel traffic will be affected

  sections will also occur. Low-lying roads and a few homes in 
  Southwest Beauregard Parish have some flooding.
* Impact...At stages near 26.8 feet...Deweyville schools may be 
  closed due to school bus routes being flooded.
* Impact...At stages near 26.0 feet...Moderate lowland flooding will
  occur. The lowest homes between Deweyville and the river begin to 
  flood, especially in the Indian Lakes and River Oaks sections. 
  Low-lying roads and a few homes in Southwestern Beauregard Parish 
  have some flooding.
* Impact...At stages near 25.0 feet...Lowest roads beside the river 
  flood around Deweyville and subject to being closed. In addition, 
  low-lying roads in Southwest Beauregard Parish are flooded 
  including Robert Clark Road. Flooding occurs on the south side of 
  Niblett Bluff Park with access roads to camp houses cut off around 
  the park. Access roads to the river in Northeastern Orange County 
  become flooded.

  Street on the river side of the flood wall will flood as water 
  overtops the Rio Oil Company dock. Buildings on the river side of 
  the Berwick floodwall will flood. River traffic restrictions will 
  be strictly enforced. In addition, backwater flooding could 
  potentially impact portions areas around Lake Palourde and 
  Stephensville.
* Impact...At stages near 6.0 feet...Flood stage. The city dock will
  be under water. Water will cover the lower end of Belleview Front 
  Street in Berwick. Vessel traffic will be affected by stronger 
  river current and vessel traffic safety rules will be strictly 
  enforced by the U.S. Coast Guard.

Line of convection that is the leading edge of rain shield will be
moving across KLFT and KARA at the start of the TAF period with
gusty winds and heavy rain at times lowering visibility to IFR
levels. The rain shield will gradually move eastward today with
rain ending at KBPT and KLCH by 29/16Z and remainder of terminals
between 29/18Z and 29/21Z. Despite the rain, ceilings are expected
to be mainly at VFR levels into the afternoon hours.

SYNOPSIS...

-A threat for heavy rainfall and flooding will continue from
 Southeast Texas into Central Louisiana through late this morning.

-Gusty winds and possibly a tornado will be possible with
 thunderstorms this morning and afternoon. The greatest threat for
 severe weather will extend from Acadiana into Southeast
 Louisiana.

-Rain and thunderstorms are expected to exit the area by the
 middle afternoon and drier weather will build in for the Easter
 weekend.

DISCUSSION...

Short Term...Today...

Regional radar imagery shows a line of thunderstorms ongoing
across portions of Southeast Texas into Central and Northern
Louisiana this morning. MRMS/KLCH/KPOE storm total precipitation
indicates that multiple rounds of thunderstorms over the past 24
hours have resulted in a widespread 3+ inches of rainfall
extending from the Piney Woods northeastward into Central
Louisiana with localized totals exceeding 6 inches. The large
scale environment continues to be supportive of heavy rainfall
with a combination of PWAT values of 1.7-1.9 inches, MUCAPE around
1000 J/kg, and a deep warm cloud layer.

The latest short term model guidance continues to indicate that
the eastward progression of the line of thunderstorms is expected
to increase through the rest of the morning and exiting the CWA by
the middle-to-late afternoon. However, given the environment
favorable for efficient rainfall production, an additional 2-4+
inches of rainfall will be possible through this afternoon and
could result in localized flash flooding. Therefore, the Flash
Flood Watch remains unchanged and will likely expire this
afternoon as the line of thunderstorms exits the area.

In addition to the potential for flash flooding, SPC has
highlighted a Slight Risk of severe weather with the passage of
this line of thunderstorms due to gusty winds and possibly a
tornado. However, the primary threats with the line of
thunderstorms will be frequent lightning and heavy rainfall.

Clearing skies and insulation in the wake of the passage of the
line of thunderstorms will allow for temperatures recover this
afternoon. Afternoon highs are expected to range from the lower
80s across Southeast Texas to the mid 70s in Acadiana.

Long Term...Friday through Wednesday...

A quieter weather pattern is expected through the Easter weekend
with high pressure in place over the region. Daytime high
temperatures are expected to be in the upper 70s and lower 80s and
overnight lows will range from the mid 50s across interior
portions of the CWA to mid 60s along the coast. The next area of
low pressure is still expected to approach the region from Tuesday
into Wednesday of next week. This will result in a chance of
showers and thunderstorms followed by another area of high
pressure building into the region late next week.

MARINE...

Showers and thunderstorms will continue through this afternoon as
a cold front moves across the coastal waters. Storms will be
capable of producing frequent lightning, very heavy rain, gusty
winds and locally rough seas. Rough seas and strong winds will
also be possible ahead of the front through this afternoon.
Therefore, the Small Craft Advisory/SCEC have been extended until
1 PM this afternoon. Offshore flow will develop tonight into
Friday as high pressure builds into the region. The offshore flow
will continue until late Saturday into Sunday when the area of
high pressure will shift eastward and result in onshore flow
redeveloping and persisting through the middle of next week.

Louisiana, south central Louisiana, southwest Louisiana, west
central Louisiana, and southeast Texas.

   Flash Flood Watch.

A line of thunderstorms will continue to move across the area
through this afternoon. The primary hazards with these
thunderstorms will be frequent lightning and heavy rainfall. A
few of the thunderstorms could also produce gusty winds and
possibly a tornado.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday

Heavy rainfall over the past 48 hours will likely result in
additional river flooding across the area. Consult the latest
river forecasts and warnings for additional information.

Showers and thunderstorms will Tuesday and Wednesday as the next
low pressure system moves through the region.

A line of thunderstorms will continue to move across the coastal
waters through this afternoon. Thunderstorms will be capable of
producing frequent lightning, very heavy rain, gusty winds and
locally rough seas.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday

Showers and thunderstorms will be possible over the coastal waters
late Tuesday into Wednesday as an area of low pressure moves
through the region.

AND SOUTHEASTERN ST. MARTIN PARISHES UNTIL 900 AM CDT...

At 756 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over
Jeanerette, moving east at 30 mph.

Winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with this storm.

Locations impacted include...
Morgan City, Franklin, Patterson, Jeanerette, Berwick, Bayou Vista,
Cypremort Point, Stephensville, Burns Point, Belle River, Baldwin,
Ellerslie, Patterson Memorial Airport, Glencoe, Sorrel, Cote Blanche
Island, Amelia, Lake Fausse Pointe, Charenton and Pierre Part.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Pierre Part, or 8 miles northwest of Belle River, moving east at 40
mph.

this storm.
