* At 10:00 AM Sunday the stage was 6.5 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 6.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 7.5 feet by
Friday March 23.
* Impact...At stages near 7.0 feet...Buildings at the foot of Ann
Street on the river side of the flood wall will flood as water
overtops the Rio Oil Company dock. Buildings on the river side of
the Berwick floodwall will flood. River traffic restrictions will
be strictly enforced. In addition, backwater flooding could
potentially impact portions areas around Lake Palourde and
Stephensville.
* Impact...At stages near 6.0 feet...Flood stage. The city dock will
be under water. Water will cover the lower end of Belleview Front
Street in Berwick. Vessel traffic will be affected by stronger
river current and vessel traffic safety rules will be strictly
enforced by the U.S. Coast Guard.

along Bayou Maria and Huffman Creeks east of Pineville.
* Impact...At stages near 32.0 feet...Flooding of lowland areas near
the river occurs and recreational boating is affected.
* Impact...At stages near 31.0 feet...Some of the outfall canals are
slowed or not allowed to drain into the river between 31 and 32
feet. Depending on rainfall this could cause flooding along some of
the bayous, especially along Bayou Rigolette.

this evening.
* Impact...At stages near 25.0 feet...Lowest roads beside the river
flood around Deweyville and subject to being closed. In addition,
low-lying roads in Southwest Beauregard Parish are flooded
including Robert Clark Road. Flooding occurs on the south side of
Niblett Bluff Park with access roads to camp houses cut off around
the park. Access roads to the river in Northeastern Orange County
become flooded.

flood around Deweyville and subject to being closed. In addition,

including Robert Clark Road. Flooding occurs on the south side of

The Red River Near Alexandria.
* until further notice...or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 7:00 PM Monday the stage was 33.4 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 32.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will continue to slowly fall to a stage of 33.0 feet
by Wednesday morning.
* Impact...At stages near 33.0 feet...Backwater flooding begins
along Bayou Maria and Huffman Creeks east of Pineville.
* Impact...At stages near 32.0 feet...Flooding of lowland areas near
the river occurs and recreational boating is affected.
* Impact...At stages near 31.0 feet...Some of the outfall canals are
slowed or not allowed to drain into the river between 31 and 32
feet. Depending on rainfall this could cause flooding along some of
the bayous, especially along Bayou Rigolette.

The Calcasieu River Near Glenmora.
* until Tuesday morning...or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 7:45 PM Monday the stage was 12.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise to near flood stage overnight
Monday into Tuesday, then slowly begin falling.
* Impact...At stages near 12.0 feet...When the river is rising and
the gauge reading is forecast to reach 12 feet or higher. Roads
upstream from Glenmora, including Strothers Crossing Road near the
community of Calcasieu and Price Crossing Road near Hineston have
water on them and are subject to being closed. Also, flooding of
forested areas near the river will occur.
* Impact...At stages near 12.0 feet...When the river is falling and
the gauge reading is forecast to be near 12 feet, flooding of
forested areas near the river will occur.

.UPDATE...
Line of strong storms that moved through upper Acadiana this
morning is progressing into SE Louisiana. Wind shift ahead of
front is beginning to move into SE Texas and SW Louisiana but
surge of stronger winds are further north. Rain coverage should
decrease considerably this afternoon and will have highest POPs
over lower Acadiana region. No other significant updates planned
at this moment.

SYNOPSIS...
Rather active weather to the north and northeast of the area early
this morning as a cold front interacts with a strong disturbance
aloft. This was resulting in several areas of strong to severe
convection from northeast TX into northern LA and also further
east acrs central MS. This activity continues to build southward,
and could begin affecting our central LA Parishes between 11-12Z.
DISCUSSION...
The cold front, currently located from roughly central AR
southwest to central TX, will continue to move southeast today,
and is expected to reach our northern zones between 12-15Z. The
front will cross the CWA through the day and should be exiting our
far southeastern zones between 21-00Z. Fcst soundings indicate
steep lapse rates aloft, decent instability (CAPE values from
1000-1800 J/kg) and plenty of deep layer shear which should be
sufficient for a few strong to svr storms today, and SPC now has
the area east of a line from roughly Jasper to western Cameron
Parish in a MRGL to SLGT risk for severe storms today. The primary
threats will be damaging winds and hail, but an isolated tornado
or two cannot be ruled out.
HiRes guidance suggests the band of storms currently approaching
our central LA Parishes will accelerate southeastward this morning
ahead of the frontal boundary. This outflow driven convection is
expected to reach coastal areas by midday. However, additional
sctd showers and a few storms will be possible through the aftn
as the frontal boundary follows on the heels of the initial band
of convection.
Showers will taper off from northwest to southeast through the
evening as drier air begins to spread into the region behind the
front. A period of dry and much cooler weather can be expected
through the first half of the week. Temperatures are expected to
be below normal, with lows falling into the upper 30s to lower 40s
Tuesday and Wednesday morning, while aftn temperatures will be in
the lower to middle 60s. A warming trend will develop through the
latter part of the week as the sfc high moves east of the region.
The return of warm and moist air will bring the chc for a few
showers by Friday, with low rain chcs expected mainly during the
daytime through the weekend.

MARINE...
Southerly winds will shift westerly through the day then northerly
by this evening as a cold front crosses the region. Scattered
showers and thunderstorms can be expected with the front, mainly
this afternoon and evening. A Small Craft Advisory has been issued
for the coastal waters from this evening through late Monday as strong
and gusty offshore flow and rough seas are expected to develop.
Winds and seas will begin to subside by Monday evening as sfc high
pres builds south into the region. Light to moderate offshore
flow is expected to continue through Wednesday, with winds bcmg
southeasterly late in the week as high pressure moves east.
