00Z TAF discussion:

Expect thunderstorm activity around, and possibly temporarily
affecting, operations at GLH/HKS/JAN through 9 pm or so. Some of
these storms will be capable of producing brief IFR flight cats,
frequent lightning, and gusty winds. Most of the thunderstorm
activity will diminish this evening. However, there is some risk
of convection lasting (or redeveloping) late tonight along the
Highway 82 corridor and affecting GLH/GWO/CBM/GTR through daybreak
and into the morning hours with temporary sub-VFR conditions.
Thereafter, a good deal of scattered thunderstorm activity should
get going across the whole of the region tomorrow afternoon. Aside
from the localized and brief sub-VFR conditions associated with
thunderstorms, expect mostly VFR conditions, although some patches
of fog developing late tonight are not out of the question in
mainly south MS. /BB/

.DISCUSSION...
This evening through Tomorrow: Showers and thunderstorms continue
across portions of the area this afternoon, with the earlier
activity finally making it to the Pine Belt and I-59 corridor. The
outflow from this morning/early afternoon activity will limit
much in the way of redevelopment for most of the area north and
east of a line from roughly Laurel, MS to Cleveland, MS. The
stable airmass can be easily discerned on satellite by a distinct
lack of a cumulus field. South and west of this outflow boundary
however, mesonalysis shows a much more unstable environment with
SBCAPE approaching 3,000-4,000 J/kg and DCAPE approaching 600-800
J/kg. With PWAT values in excess of 1.7 inches across the area,
the locally derived microburst composite indicates a continued
threat for isolated microbursts producing damaging winds across
southwest MS and central to northeast LA. Low-level wind shear
vectors pointing to the east will favor the eastern side of any
cold pools for upscale thunderstorm growth and greatest damaging
wind threat through the early evening.

Expect diminishing convection by tonight, with the chance for a few
showers to redevelop by sunrise. Then with the warm and humid
airmass remaining in place for tomorrow, expect another round of
thunderstorms to develop by the afternoon. Activity should be fairly
disorganized, with the greatest threat being isolated damaging wind
gusts from possible microbursts during the afternoon. /NF/

Tuesday night through Sunday: Weakness between mid level ridge
over TX and off the southeast US coast will maintain itself over
the region through the start of the period. The weak shortwaves
embedded in this weak flow pattern will continue to aid in diurnal
convective development given PWs between 1.5 and 2 inches.
Ridging will occur over the area from mid to late in the period,
but the transition to drier air in the column will be slow as PWs
remain high and mainly over the south. Northern portions will
begin to see a falloff in afternoon convective coverage by late
week and especially over the weekend. The only downside to lesser
convection will be the increased heat as highs push the mid 90s.
Heat indices will respond in kind as dewpoints remain in the lower
70s, but values near 105 are only showing up sporadically. Thus,
will not mention in the HWO at present./26/
