PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Do not drive or walk through areas where water covers roadway! The 
water may be deeper than it appears. Remember...Turn around, don't 
drown!

Forecasts are based on rainfall that has occurred and that which is 
forecast to occur. Routine 24 hours of forecast rainfall is used for 
all rivers  except for those in the Tombigbee River System which 
includes Tibbee Creek,  Luxapallila Creek, Noxubee River,and the 
Tombigbee River mainstem where a routine of 48 hours of additional 
rainfall is used.

Forecasts are based on rainfall that has occurred and that which is 
forecast to occur. Routine 24 hours of forecast rainfall is used for 
all rivers  except for those in the Tombigbee River System which 
includes Tibbee Creek,  Luxapallila Creek, Noxubee River,and the 
Tombigbee River mainstem where a routine of 48 hours of additional 
rainfall is used.

.DISCUSSION...
Surface ridging will remain in place across the northeast Gulf of
Mexico today as the low level pressure gradient tightens. This
will lead to gusty winds, especially across the Delta and the
ongoing limited risk remains well placed. Further aloft, weak
mid-level ridging will flatten out into zonal flow through the
day. This will help to continue and keep quiet weather in place
across the area and no changes were needed to the current
forecast. /TW/

Today through tonight...

Strong warm advection and a tightening pressure gradient will be
the primary weather influences in the near term. After an
abnormally chilly start to the day, look for strong south-
southwest flow aloft to mix down and raise temperatures
dramatically today to above climatic normal values. The strong
mixing will also make for increasingly breezy conditions,
especially over the Delta region, and will mention this in the
HWO/graphics. Otherwise, mostly clear skies and dry conditions
will prevail through tonight. /EC/

Wednesday through Monday night...

High pressure will continue to prevail over the area on
Wednesday, but a weak short wave and associated cold front will
move across the area Wednesday night. This boundary will have
little moisture to work with, so it will mainly be a dry frontal
passage. The main effect will be slightly cooler temperatures and
some gusty winds. High pressure will build back on on Thursday
with highs ranging from the upper 60s to mid 70s.

High pressure ridging will continue to prevail through Friday, but
changes are on the way for the weekend. The global models are in
pretty good agreement that a cut-off low will approach the area on
Saturday, and the associated short wave/cold front will move across
the area Saturday night into Sunday. The GFS/ECMWF diverge on the
movement of the low over the area Saturday night/Sunday with the GFS
further north. The track of the low will dictate our weather during
this period, with the further north movement allowing more
instability and convection, while the further south movement
allows for mainly a rainmaker for the area. Given that this
system is still several days out, the timing, evolution and
movement of this system can change greatly. Light rain will
continue to be possible into Monday as the low tracks to the east
with some wrap-around moisture continuing. /15/
