Light snow showers and flurries will gradually diminish overnight.
It will be cold but dry on Thursday before a more organized
system brings several more inches of snow Thursday night into
Friday night. Significant accumulations of more than 6 inches of
snow appear likely but the location of the heavy snow remains
uncertain at this time. The best chances for the heaviest snow
currently appear to be across far northern Indiana, southern Lower
Michigan and extreme northwest Ohio.

Persistent light snow showers and flurries still ongoing with weak
northwest flow off the lake coupled with fast moving short wave
seen nicely on Goes-16 water vapor. Will be adjusting pops/snow
shower mention for a few more hours but expecting winds to back
more westerly with passage of short wave and combination of wake
subsidence and lake being cut off should end pcpn through the
evening.

Light lake effect snow showers and flurries within low level thermal
trough  will continue through nrn zones this aftn before quickly
diminishing this evening as thermal trough collapses. Thereafter
tranquil weather expected as sfc ridge axis drifts across the area
on Thu. However an general abundance of clouds and neutral thermal
advection will again yield another well below normal day temp wise.

.LONG TERM...(Friday through Tuesday)

Intense upper jet flow will develop through base of deep NOAM upper
trough this period in response to large scale sw disturbance
amplifying through se Canada. This in turn will induce a long
duration low level warm advection into wavy west-east low level
baroclinic zone positioned through the srn Great Lakes.

Overnight miss along srn flank of baroclinic zone south of highway 6
a good proxy for inherent forecast issues relegated to potential
winter storm beginning Thu night. While vast bulk of 00Z/12Z
guidance cycles similar with centroid of significant qpf stripe
invof tight low level baroclinic zone Thu night-Fri night, proximity
of dry air within expanding warm sector problematic. Thus extreme
north-south snow gradient expected with inherent bust potential high
along srn flank across nrn IN into nw OH. In fact zone of intense
isentropic lift only 4 counties deep so any additional fluctuation
in progged baroclinic zone placement will have obvious huge
ramifications on realized snow amounts. Whatever the case do expect
a band of intense snowfall will materialize invof the IN/MI
stateline or just south where longest duration of most intense
lift/moisture combine with multi-model support for 12"+ and rapid
fall off to nothing south toward the highway 24 corridor. Lack of
given trend/direction warrants holding pat with prior watch issuance
with plenty of time yet to jump should a definite trend develop in
later model solutions.

This system followed by another warm advective push Sat night
through Sun cwa wide, ahead of secondary sw disturbance spinning up
through swrn periphery of large scale trough across the plains Sun.
Another broad swath of advisory level snow (2-4) likely.
