...A Flood Warning continues for portions of the following rivers in
Indiana...

  Driftwood River...East Fork White River...Eel River...Wabash 
  River...White River...

.Lowland river flooding will develop in central and southern
Indiana this week in response to a combination of melting snow from
the weekend and rain on Monday and Tuesday. Flood levels are
expected to be lower than flooding experienced in late
February and early March.

Rainfall of just under an inch has fallen across portions of central
Indiana as of Tuesday morning with another 1 to 2 inches with locally
higher amounts expected to fall between Tuesday afternoon and
Thursday morning.  Additional rain is expected this weekend and early
next week which could prolong flooding.

Flooding will be highest along lower portions of the White and
Wabash River. Forecast crests will likely change over the next
several days as placement and amount of expected rain may be
different than predicted. Flooding will likely impact numerous river
roads, agricultural lands, and river parks.


Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go 
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and 
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river 
conditions.

  flooding begins along portions of the Driftwood River in northern 
  Bartholomew County.  Water is near CR 950N to Double Y Saddle Club.

...A Flood Warning continues for the following rivers and streams 
in Indiana...

  Big Walnut Creek...Driftwood River...East Fork White River...Eel

.Extensive river flooding will be develop in southern Indiana by the
weekend and continue into the first week of April.  Significant
flooding will occur in a few areas.  Flood crests will be a few feet
lower than those of late February and early March.  The worst
flooding will be along the White...East Fork White and the Wabash
Rivers in the Mount Carmel and New Harmony areas. 

Lesser flooding will occur along the Wabash River in western Indiana
and the White River in central Indiana.  Rivers will approach and/or
crest a few feet above flood stage.

Three fourths to over two inches of rain has fallen from late
Monday night through early Wednesday afternoon in much of central
and southern Indiana. The heaviest rain fell in western Indiana. An
additional 1 to 2 inches will fall in southern Indiana on Thursday.

Early Wednesday afternoon rivers were at bankfull levels and rising
in western...central and southern Indiana.  Small streams were near
crests in most areas. 

Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go 
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and 
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river 
conditions.

...A Flood Warning continues for portions of the following rivers 
in Indiana...

  Driftwood River...East Fork White River...Eel River...Muscatatuck 
  River...Wabash River...White River...



.Extensive river flooding will develop in southern Indiana by the
weekend and continue into the first week of April.  Significant
flooding will occur in a few areas.  Flood crests will be a few feet
lower than those of late February and early March.  The worst
flooding will be along the White...East Fork White and the Wabash
Rivers in the Mount Carmel and New Harmony areas. 

Lesser flooding will occur along the Wabash River in western Indiana
and the White River in central Indiana.  Rivers will approach and/or
crest a few feet above flood stage.

Three fourths of an inch to over two inches of rain has fallen
between late Monday night through early Wednesday afternoon in
much of central and southern Indiana. The heaviest rain fell in
western Indiana. An additional 1 to 2 inches will fall in southern
Indiana on Thursday.

Late Wednesday evening rivers were in flood in western Indiana.
Rivers in central and south central Indiana were bankfull.  Creeks
were were below flood stage, and those that were in action stage
were falling.

More rainfall, largely late tonight and Thursday, will be moving into
Indiana and give to additional rises on rivers and creeks. Please
keep abreast of changing hydrologic conditions.


Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go 
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and 
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river 
conditions.

Unsettled weather will continue across the area into the weekend as
a couple of slow moving fronts move through the area. Some of the
rain may be heavy at times through Tuesday night. Above normal
temperatures mid-week will give way to a little cooler than normal
readings by the weekend.

.NEAR TERM.../Rest of This Afternoon and Tonight/
Issued at 311 PM EDT Mon Mar 26 2018

Moisture continues to slowly increase across central Indiana this
afternoon. The dewpoints aren't climbing as fast as the models are
forecasting though. Showers, and a few thunderstorms, are across
western Illinois and western Kentucky, moving northeast.

The atmosphere will continue to moisten up as 850mb flow increases
from the southwest. Precipitable water values will rise to above an
inch tonight. Isentropic lift will also increase later this
afternoon and through tonight along with the low level jet.

Thus feel rain will overspread most of the area tonight. Will go
likely or higher category PoPs all areas. The forcing will be
focused more into the northern half of the forecast area, so will go
the highest PoPs there. Across the south, there will likely be
longer lulls in the rain as forcing is less there.

Details will be in the Hydrology section below, but feel the threat
of heavier rain plus the snow melt is enough to go with a Flood
Watch starting late tonight across the southwest half of the
forecast area.

The model blend looks reasonable for temperatures.

.SHORT TERM.../Tuesday through Thursday/

Models are close enough that the model blend initialization
was accepted for most items.

Rain will continue at times across the area Tuesday and Tuesday
night. A surface boundary will work slowly through the area, and
upper impulses will move through the southwest flow aloft. An upper
level jet will provide additional forcing, and a low level jet will
provide the moisture. Thus went high PoPs all areas Tuesday and
Tuesday night. Feel that flooding will continue to be a threat with
this rain (see Hydrology section below), so will continue the flood
watch through Tuesday night.

On Wednesday and Wednesday night the front will in or just south of
the southern forecast area, which will keep  mainly chance or lower
category PoPs across the area.

A surface wave will ride along the front on Thursday as upper energy
from the southern stream moves in, which will increase the PoPs
across the area once again. There remains some differences in the
models with track and timing of this low, so confidence is lower
here. Will go with likely PoPs southeast and chance PoPs northwest.

The model blend looks reasonable for temperatures given expected
conditions.

.LONG TERM /Thursday Night Through Monday/...

Models keep a strong upper low over Central Canada through the
period with an upper trough extending south towards the great lakes.
A series of upper disturbances will move east across our region
through the period per models with the most significant systems
occurring around Friday...Saturday evening and again early next
week.   With uncertainty in timing between the models superblend
ended up putting low POPS through most of the long term period.

Overall stayed close to a MOS blend on POPS and temperatures.
Low level thickness favor mostly rain. But there could be a brief
period of mixed precipitation far north early Sunday and Monday.

.AVIATION /Discussion for the 27/00Z TAFs/...
Issued at 723 PM EDT Mon Mar 26 2018

MVFR or worse conditions likely through the vast majority of the
period.

Active weather is moving into the area this evening, and showers
will overspread most sites for a time this evening. There may be a
break at times, more likely with southern extent, but additional
showers will move in later and into the day on Tuesday. Expect
fluctuations as is always the case, but ceilings will remain
restricted through basically the entire period with visibilities
fluctuating with intensity of rainfall. Ceilings may drop into IFR
late tonight and may remain there through much of Monday.

Winds will become more southerly with time through the period with
sustained winds 10-15KT at times, especially tomorrow. Gusts into
the low to mid 20KT range will be possible tomorrow, and low level
wind shear will also need to be mentioned at times later in the
period.
