...A Flood Warning continues for portions of the following rivers and
creeks in Indiana...

  Driftwood River...East Fork White River...Flatrock River...
  Mississinewa River...Muscatatuck River...Tippecanoe River...Wabash 
  River...White River...Wildcat Creek...Youngs Creek...



.Extensive river flooding will develop in western and southern
Indiana this weekend and continue through much of next week.  Near
major to major flooding is possible in southwest Indiana.  Flooding
will exceed levels seen in early May 2017 in some areas.  High water
along the Wabash River from Lafayette to Vincennes will be lower
than crests seen in April 2013.

Early Thursday afternoon...the Tippecanoe and Vermilion Rivers in
northern and western Indiana were at or near major flood levels. The
Tippecanoe River was at it highest level since March 2009 and the
Vermilion River the highest since its record flood of April 1994. 
Both rivers will slowly recede through the weekend.  Flood levels
along the Wabash River from Lafayette to Vincennes will remain below
those of the April 2013 large flood.

Rainfall of 1 to 2 inches fell in much of central and southern
Indiana since Wednesday morning.  Rainfall totals for the last week
now stand at 2 to 5 inches for much of central and southern Indiana.
The heaviest rain has fallen in southern Indiana along the Ohio
River. An additional 2 to more than 4 inches will fall in southern
Indiana by late Sunday morning.  Much of this rain will fall from
Friday night through Saturday night.

Extensive flooding will develop quickly in southern Indiana during
the weekend and continue through next week.  High water will close
numerous state and local roads and possibly affect residential areas.
Sharp river rises are possible during the weekend.

Rainfall in northern Indiana will be considerably less with an
inch or less expected through Sunday.  This will allow rivers and
streams in the upper portion of the Wabash River Basin to slowly
recede through Monday...February 27.  Rainfall in northwest and
north central Indiana totaled 4 to 8 inches since Monday. 


Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go 
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and 
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river 
conditions.

  Bartholomew County on March 7 2011.   Double Y Saddle Club area 
  extensively flooded.  Water flowing over CR 950 N to Club.  CR 330W
  is flooded just south of its intersection with Ohio Ridge Rd.  CR 
  500N west of CR 250W is flooded blocking vehicular access to 
  residences near the river bank.  Lowell Public Access site is 
  completely flooded.  Water very near several residences and 
  seasonal homes along CR 330W and CR 325W.

  21 feet.

  1990, the town of Petersburg lost their main water line.  This 
  problem is believed to have been corrected.  Seven floods since May
  1990 have reached this level.  Levees are monitored at this level.
  Numerous roads flooded.  Flood waters approach State Road 56 near 
  Bowman.  Extensive flooding in Dodge City.

  including some that are covered by more than a foot of water. 
  Substantial property damage downstream of Oakdale Dam.  Flooded 
  areas may include Horseshoe Bend and Camp Tecumseh downstream of 
  Oakdale Dam.

...A Flood Warning continues for portions of the following rivers and
creeks in Indiana...

  Driftwood River...East Fork White River...Flatrock River...

.Extensive river flooding will develop in western and southern
Indiana this weekend and continue through much of next week.  Near
major to major flooding is possible in southwest Indiana.  Flooding
will exceed levels seen in early May 2017 in some areas.  High water
along the Wabash River from Lafayette to Vincennes will be lower
than crests seen in April 2013.

Early Thursday afternoon...the Tippecanoe and Vermilion Rivers in
northern and western Indiana were at or near major flood levels. The
Tippecanoe River was at it highest level since March 2009 and the
Vermilion River the highest since its record flood of April 1994. 
Both rivers will slowly recede through the weekend.  Flood levels
along the Wabash River from Lafayette to Vincennes will remain below
those of the April 2013 large flood.

Rainfall of 1 to 2 inches fell in much of central and southern
Indiana since Wednesday morning.  Rainfall totals for the last week
now stand at 2 to 5 inches for much of central and southern Indiana.
The heaviest rain has fallen in southern Indiana along the Ohio
River. An additional 2 to more than 4 inches will fall in southern
Indiana by late Sunday morning.  Much of this rain will fall from
Friday night through Saturday night.

Extensive flooding will develop quickly in southern Indiana during
the weekend and continue through next week.  High water will close
numerous state and local roads and possibly affect residential areas.
Sharp river rises are possible during the weekend.

Rainfall in northern Indiana will be considerably less with an
inch or less expected through Sunday.  This will allow rivers and
streams in the upper portion of the Wabash River Basin to slowly
recede through Monday...February 27.  Rainfall in northwest and
north central Indiana totaled 4 to 8 inches since Monday. 



Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go 
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and 
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river 
conditions.

  Substantial property damage downstream of Oakdale Dam.  Flooded 
  areas may include Horseshoe Bend and Camp Tecumseh downstream of

Issued at 400 PM EST Thu Feb 22 2018

Persistent frontal zone that has been in the region for the past
several days will continue to influence the area, lifting back
northward again as another wave of low pressure moves along it
late tonight into Friday, producing another round of rainfall. A
brief break will follow with only chances for rain south Friday
afternoon and evening, followed by another more substantial low
pressure system late Friday night into Saturday night, bringing
another round of potentially significant rainfall. This rain will
likely exacerbate ongoing flooding on area waterways and may
produce flood problems in other areas as well. Will carry a flood
watch beginning this evening through Saturday night from Indy
metro southward as a result.

.NEAR TERM /Tonight/...
Issued at 400 PM EST Thu Feb 22 2018

Expect another round of rainfall mainly late tonight as another
impulse pushes northeast along the quasistationary front that has
been in the region for the last several days. Convective indices
suggest thunder is at least an outside threat late tonight across
the southern half of the area, and will carry a slight chance
there.

This round of rainfall may amount to as much as an inch to an inch
and a half in spots.

Consensus temperatures seemed reasonable with minor tweaks. Warm
advection ongoing through the night will prevent temperatures from
dropping much from afternoon highs, and surface wetbulb progs with
widespread rainfall expected also agree relatively well with
consensus.

.SHORT TERM /Friday through Sunday/...
Issued at 400 PM EST Thu Feb 22 2018

Focus then shifts particularly to late Friday night into Saturday
night. Will have to carry at least some chances Friday afternoon
and evening across the south, but the next substantial round of
rainfall will come during that aforementioned time frame. A more
substantial low pressure system will begin to wrap up over the
Plains as the western upper level trough finally begins to push
eastward. This round of significant rainfall will again be focused
mainly across the central and southern portions of the area, with
the southern half of the area again seeing the highest totals. See
the hydrology section below for more.

Thunder will be a threat again, mainly Saturday afternoon and
evening, and day 3 convective outlook brings a marginal severe
risk into our south which is reasonable given the low level
dynamic environment, although as is often the case this time of
year, degree of destabilization will be the limiting factor.

Precipitation will come to a close late Saturday night and Sunday
looks to be a dry day in the wake of the cold front.

Consensus temperatures were generally in the ballpark with minor
tweaks, although I suspect Sunday max temps will need to come down
as model consensus forms around frontal passage time - may see
only minor warming during the day with cold advection ongoing.

.LONG TERM /Sunday Night through Thursday/...

Dry weather is expected Sunday night through Tuesday. Late Tuesday
night moisture begins to arrive as the high pressure moves out of
our area. Models have pops returning as a warm front moves in from
the SW. The ECMWF shows several short waves arriving Tuesday night
through Wednesday night providing forcing for rain along with the
warm front which is reflected in the pops in the middle of next
week.

Thursday, a cold front will move into central Indiana bringing
more chances for rain... mainly early in the day.

Given the warm air advection, above normal temperatures are
expected much of the week.

Conditions will deteriorate further to IFR/LIFR levels for most of
the TAF period as the environment remains saturated and

This hazardous weather outlook is for central Indiana.

.DAY ONE...Tonight.

Outlook: Minor flooding is occurring on area waterways, which may
worsen with additional rainfall beginning tonight. A few
thunderstorms cannot be ruled out.

Hazards: Heavy rain, flooding, and lightning.

Timing: Flooding will continue through the night and beyond.
Thunderstorms possible after midnight.

Discussion: Locally heavy rain will be possible tonight as a front
moves into the area. Ongoing flooding may worsen. A flood watch is in
effect from 10 PM tonight through 7 AM Sunday.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday.

Outlook: Heavy rainfall will return at times for Friday and
especially Saturday and Saturday night. Ongoing flooding may become
significant as a result of this rainfall. Embedded thunderstorms are
possible Saturday and Saturday night. A line of strong to severe
thunderstorms is possible late Saturday night with a cold
front...especially south of Interstate 70. Damaging winds will be the
primary threat. Lightning is a threat from any storm.

Discussion: A slow moving front will interact with warm and moist
air from the Gulf of Mexico to bring rain to central Indiana. The
rain could be heavy at times with an additional 2 to 3 inches
expected with locally heavier amounts by Sunday. The heaviest
rainfall is expected to focus over southern portions of central
Indiana. Lowland flooding is expected, with the possibility of the
development of significant river flooding later this week as well.

This hazardous weather outlook is for central Indiana.

.DAY ONE...Tonight.

Outlook: Flooding is occurring on area waterways.

Hazards: Brief heavy rain and flooding.

Timing: Flooding will continue through the night and beyond.

Discussion: Locally heavy rain will be possible tonight as a front
moves into the area. Ongoing flooding may worsen.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday.

Outlook: Heavy rainfall will return at times for Friday and
especially Saturday and Saturday night. Ongoing flooding may become
significant as a result of this rainfall. Embedded thunderstorms are
possible Saturday and Saturday night. A line of strong to severe
thunderstorms is possible late Saturday night with a cold
front...especially south of Interstate 70. Damaging winds will be the
primary threat. Lightning is a threat from any storm.

Discussion: A slow moving front will interact with warm and moist
air from the Gulf of Mexico to bring rain to central Indiana. The
rain could be heavy at times with an additional 2 to 3 inches
expected with locally heavier amounts by Sunday. The heaviest
rainfall is expected to focus over southern portions of central
Indiana. Lowland flooding is expected, with the possibility of the
development of significant river flooding later this week as well.
