...A Flood Warning continues for portions of the following rivers in 
Indiana...

  Driftwood River...East Fork White River...Eel River...Mississinewa 
  River...Muscatatuck River...Tippecanoe River...Wabash River...White
  River...Wildcat Creek...


.Multiple rounds of rainfall are expected this week across central
Indiana. The rain will likely be heavy at times with embedded
thunderstorms. Rainfall totals of 3 to 5 inches with some locally
higher amounts appear possible at this time.

River flooding will likely develop by mid to late week. Extensive
flooding will develop along portions of the Wabash River starting
Wednesday morning in the Lafayette area to early next week south of
Hutsonville and Riverton in western Indiana. Extensive flooding along
the Tippecanoe River near Delphi is forecast to develop early
Thursday morning. Flooding will affect numerous local and state
roads, considerable agricultural land, and possibly some residential
areas.

Those with interests along area rivers and streams should closely
monitor forecasts and conditions in the coming days and be prepared
to take action to protect life and property.


Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go 
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and 
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river 
conditions.

  direct access to Wabash Valley Hospital.  During agricultural 
  season extensive crop damage occurs. Roads that flood include N 
  River Rd, SR 225 south of Battleground, Stair Road, Barton Beach 
  Rd, Division Rd and CR 700 W at the Granville Bridge Public Access 
  Site and CR 950 W. Pretty Prairie Rd near Moots Creek and lowest 
  portion of Goldsberry Rd likely flood.  Basement flooding along N 
  River Road, N 9th Street and Barton Beach Rd begins.

* At 20.5 feet...Lawrenceport Road just east of Lawrenceport and on 
  the south side of river begins to flood around this level.  By 22 
  feet this road is impassable.  During typical floods in this 
  area...this portion of the road can be flooded by 5 to more than 10
  feet of water.  During the January 2005 flood...this area would 
  have been near the "bottom" of the river...underwater by nearly 17 
  feet.  In the great March 1913 flood...more than 25 feet of water 
  would have covered this location.

.Multiple rounds of rainfall are expected this week across Indiana.
The rain will likely be heavy at times with embedded thunderstorms.
Rainfall totals of 3 to 5 inches with some locally higher amounts
appear possible at this time.

Flooding on some area creeks are in progress or will soon be. River
flooding will likely develop by mid to late week. Extensive flooding
will develop along portions of the Wabash River starting Wednesday
morning in the Lafayette area to early next week south of
Hutsonville and Riverton in western Indiana. Extensive flooding along
the Tippecanoe River near Delphi is forecast to develop early
Thursday morning. Flooding will affect numerous local and state
roads, considerable agricultural land, and possibly some residential
areas.

Those with interests along area rivers and streams should closely
monitor forecasts and conditions in the coming days and be prepared
to take action to protect life and property.


Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go 
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and 
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river 
conditions.

.SYNOPSIS...
Issued at 408 PM EST Mon Feb 19 2018

A frontal system will meander across the area into the weekend,
keeping rain around for much of the period. The rain may be heavy at
times. Temperatures will remain above normal through the period,
with record temperatures possible on Tuesday.

&&

.NEAR TERM.../Rest of This Afternoon and Tonight/
Issued at 408 PM EST Mon Feb 19 2018

Strong low level flow continues to bring plentiful moisture into
central Indiana this afternoon. Rain was mainly confined to the
northwest half of the forecast area, which is being influenced by
upper impulses riding around an upper ridge.

This trend will continue through the night as strong southerly flow
remains in place across the area. The upper ridge will keep part of
the southeast forecast area dry, while the northwest forecast area
continues to be impacted by waves moving through the flow.

Plentiful moisture will be in place thanks to the strong low level
flow. Will go high PoPs tonight across the northwest, with chance in
the middle, and dry to slight chance PoPs southeast.

Parts of the northwest forecast area have already received over an
inch of rain today. Precipitable water values are over 300 percent of
normal. Models show axis of heaviest rain just northwest of the
forecast area tonight, but a small shift could bring it into the
area. Given the above have decided to issue a small Flood Watch for
the extreme northwest forecast area, starting tonight and continuing
into Wednesday.

Temperatures will not fall a whole lot tonight with the good
southerly flow. Thus went with lows only around 60 most locations,
which would set a new record high minimum temperature for
Indianapolis.

.SHORT TERM.../Tuesday through Thursday/
Issued at 408 PM EST Mon Feb 19 2018

Models are close enough that the model blend initialization
was accepted for most items.

The upper high to the southeast and a low level jet will continue to
bring in unseasonably moist air into the area into Wednesday. The
upper high will nose into the forecast area enough that focus for
rain will be on the northwest half of the forecast area until
overnight Tuesday night. At that time, a cold front will move into
the area and bring more widespread rain Wednesday.

Will keep likely or higher category PoPs contained to the northwest
half or so of the area through 06Z Wednesday, then allow high PoPs
most areas through 18Z Wednesday. As the front shifts to the south,
a wave will ride along it and keep rain chances into Thursday
morning. There is some model differences in this wave, with the NAM
being farthest north.

Will stick with the blend for now and keep some high PoPs across the
southeast half of the forecast area into Thursday morning. If the
wave ends up farther south, then PoPs may be lowered some Wednesday
night into Thursday.

Threat for heavy rain continues with the plentiful moisture. For now
will keep the Flood Watch confined to the far northwest, but it may
be expanded for Tuesday night into Wednesday as the front moves into
the area.

Looking beyond the rain, winds will be a factor on Tuesday. Strong
winds aloft may mix down some, especially for areas that see a break
in the clouds. Momentum transfer forecasts from the models show near
35kt possible, so will include a mention of 40mph gusts on Tuesday.

It appears that record temperatures will be seen on Tuesday, with
highs in the 70s, perhaps to near 80 in the far south. How high
things go will depend on cloud cover.

As colder air moves in behind the front on Wednesday night and
Thursday morning, there could be some light mixed precipitation
across the north. Although air temperatures may be cold enough for
freezing rain, the ground should still be warm enough from the
record temperatures to minimize any impact.

.LONG TERM /Thursday Night Through Monday/...
Issued at 408 PM EST Mon Feb 19 2018

Ensembles indicate that the western trough/eastern ridge long wave
pattern will hold for the most part during this period, although it
appears the eastern ridge will flatten some by early next week.

Several disturbance are expected to periodically eject out of the
western trough through Sunday. Will keep PoPs for rain in the
forecast during these periods. Progged precipitable waters are still
close to climatological maximums, so heavy rainfall threat late this
week is still there. Today's ensembles indicate the maximum rainfall
axis roughly along the Ohio River, but this may fluctuate over the
next few days.

A more progressive pattern may develop as the upper ridge flattens
early next week, so will cut off the rain threat after Sunday.

.AVIATION /Discussion for the 192100Z KIND TAF Update/...
Issued at 321 PM EST Mon Feb 19 2018

Appears shower activity at the KIND terminal has ended for now,
although there will probably continue to be shower activity in the
vicinity of the terminal off to the northwest for the rest of the
afternoon and early evening hours.

Previous discussion follows.

Shower activity expected to diminish by the mid afternoon hours,
especially in the KBMG/KIND/KHUF vicinity, as better lift shifts off
to the northeast. Short term model guidance suggests there may
another wave moving towards the southern Great Lakes later this
evening, which may impact mainly KLAF. This morning's upper air
indicates lapse rates are poor, so threat for organized
convection/lightning strikes is low.

Appears the best chances for widespread and prolonged IFR conditions
through this evening will be in the KLAF vicinity, where
precipitation looks to be the heaviest.

Threat for low level wind shear appears to have diminished, as
surface gusts suggest the low level inversion has broken. Expecting
the inversion to break at KLAF as well shortly, but this will have
to be watched. Low level wind shear may become an issue again this
evening, given the 50-60 kt low level overhead, but surface winds
may stay up enough to prevent the nocturnal inversion from setting
up.

Surface winds generally 190-210 degrees with frequent gusts 24-28
kts this afternoon. Gusts may become less frequent or diminish after
dark depending on how strong the nocturnal inversion sets up.

.HYDROLOGY...

Potential for significant flooding continues across the area this
week.

Precipitable water values will be near the climatological maximum
into mid-week as the strong low level jet continues to pump in
moisture from the Gulf of Mexico. This will be briefly pushed south,
but then the values will return late week.

Parts of the northwest forecast area have already received over an
inch of rain into early Monday afternoon. Perceptible water values
were over 300 percent of normal. Thus a Flood Watch was issued for
the extreme northwest forecast area, since the heaviest rain may
fall in this area tonight into Tuesday night.

Elsewhere it looks like the threat for heavier rain with the first
system will come Tuesday night into Wednesday. A Flood Watch may
have to be issued for that period if trends continue.

The threat for heavy rain and flooding will return late week as
moisture returns into the area.

Some rivers are forecast to go into moderate flooding based on the

This hazardous weather outlook is for central Indiana.

.DAY ONE...Tonight.

Outlook: Gusty winds.

Hazards: Wind gusts over 35 mph.

Timing: mainly into early evening.

Discussion: Gusty winds will diminish into early evening. An
approaching frontal system could bring some rain tonight.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday.

Outlook: Significant rainfall is possible at times through much of
this week and into the weekend across central Indiana. Flooding,
possibly significant flooding, could develop as a result of this
rainfall. Embedded thunderstorms are possible at times as well. No
severe storms are expected at this time.

Winds will gust to around 40 mph on Tuesday.

Discussion: A slow moving front will interact with warm and moist
air from the Gulf of Mexico to bring rain to central Indiana. The
rain could be heavy at times with as much as 3 to 6 inches possible
in spots by the weekend. Lowland flooding is expected, with the
possibility of the development of significant river flooding later
this week as well.
