and southern Indiana as a result of heavy rain last night and
today. Significant flooding is not expected. Flooding will affect
some local and state roads...low agricultural land and some river
parks.
Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...
Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river
conditions.

.Lowland flooding is developing along rivers and creeks in central
and southern Indiana as a result of copious rainfall last night
and today. Radar estimates show up to approximately 2.60 inches of
rain fell over the past 24 hours ending at 4 PM EDT, heaviest along
and southeast of a line from Vincennes to Greencastle to Muncie.
Rain will taper off this evening, leaving dry weather until Sunday.
Significant flooding is not expected. Flooding will affect some local
and state roads...low agricultural land and some river parks.
Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...
Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and

the south side of river begins to flood around this level. By 22
feet this road is impassable. During typical floods in this
area...this portion of the road can be flooded by 5 to more than 10
feet of water. During the January 2005 flood...this area would
have been near the "bottom" of the river...underwater by nearly 17
feet. In the great March 1913 flood...more than 25 feet of water
would have covered this location.

.Flooding is developing along rivers and creeks in central and
southern Indiana as a result of copious rainfall Wednesday night
and Thursday. Radar estimates show up to nearly three inches of
rain fell over the past 24 hours ending at 8 PM EDT Thursday,
heaviest along and southeast of a line from Vincennes to Greencastle
to Muncie. This is on top of lighter rainfall that fell
Wednesday. Rain will continue to diminish overnight, leaving dry
weather until Sunday. Significant flooding is not expected.
Flooding will affect some local and state roads...agricultural
land and some river parks.
Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...
Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river
conditions.

.Periods of heavy rain over the last few days has resulted in
extensive flooding across much of central and southern Indiana.
Moderate flooding is ongoing along the Mississinewa River near
Ridgeville and along the Flatrock River near Raleigh with minor
flooding elsewhere. Most smaller streams have crested or nearly
crested with the main river still rising.
Additional rainfall later this weekend and early next week may lead
to renewed or prolonged flooding.
Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...
Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river
conditions.

.Periods of heavy rain over the last few days has resulted in
extensive flooding across much of central and southern Indiana.
Moderate flooding is ongoing along the Mississinewa River near
Ridgeville and along the Flatrock River near Raleigh with minor
flooding elsewhere. Most smaller streams have crested or nearly
crested with the main rivers still rising.
Additional rainfall later this weekend and early next week may lead
to renewed or prolonged flooding.
Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...
Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river
conditions.

northern Bartholomew County on April 6, 2011. Double Y Saddle Club
area flooded. At least 6 inches of water flowing over CR 950N to
Club. Water is less than one foot away from CR 330W just south of
its intersection with Ohio Ridge Rd. CR 500N west of CR 250W is
flooded blocking vehicular access to residences near the river
bank. Lowell Public Access site is open but ramp is totally
flooded. Water close to one residence at Shelby CR 1000S and CR
900W.

higher than the observations from the old legacy gauge.
* Flood stage is 16.5 feet. This is 2.5 feet higher than flood stage
from the old legacy gauge.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by late Saturday night and
continue to rise to near 18.5 feet by Tuesday afternoon. It will
fall below flood stage by Thursday morning.
* At 18.5 feet...Lowest river cabins across from the Wabash Generating
Station begin to flood. Flooding of agricultural land along U.S. 63
north of Terre Haute, west bank of river and in southwest Vigo
County occurs. County roads flood in southwest Vigo County. The
wetland projects between U.S. 40 and I-70 begin to slowly fill.

Issued at 119 PM EDT Thu Nov 1 2018 Widespread rain and windy conditions will persist through this evening with a frontal system stretching across the Ohio Valley. The rain and wind will diminish tonight though as that frontal system pushes into the northeast U.S. and high pressure strengthens over central Indiana. Dry and cool conditions will then prevail for Friday and Saturday before additional rain chances return late this weekend/next week with a series of low pressure systems. && .NEAR TERM /Tonight/... Issued at 119 PM EDT Thu Nov 1 2018 Widespread rain showers will continue to affect central Indiana into tonight with two areas of low pressure along a frontal boundary stretching from western Kentucky northeastward through the Ohio Valley. So, will continue to carry headlines for flooding through this evening, but some clearing to the west per latest satellite imagery could reduce additional rainfall amounts. As the aforementioned frontal boundary shifts farther northeast late this evening, drier air will expand into central Indiana from the southwest, diminishing rainfall from southwest to northeast through the night. Anticipate all rain to be out of the forecast area before daybreak though when the trailing upper low also exits the area. Meanwhile, overnight lows will be in the low 40s. && .SHORT TERM /Tomorrow through Sunday/... Issued at 119 PM EDT Thu Nov 1 2018 Dry but cool conditions are expected to prevail tomorrow. However, this is only a low to moderate confidence forecast since light rain showers cannot completely be ruled out at times as the next upper low digs into the area, especially across southern and eastern portions of the forecast area. The latest blended initialization was struggling to capture the pattern and did hint at low chance pops across southern and eastern portions of the forecast area, but will, however, trend toward a dry forecast for now for Friday unless moisture and/or dynamics improve. Confidence is much higher though for a dry and sunny day on Saturday as the upper trough shifts farther east and weak ridging forms aloft. Highs will top off in the 50s on Saturday after a chilly Friday night in the mid 30s. Increasing cloud cover ahead of the next system on Saturday night will keep overnight lows in the low to mid 40s that night. Sunday, rain showers will expand from west to east across central Indiana as the next low pressure system enters the Midwest. Warm advection ahead of the system though will bump daytime highs into the upper 50s/low 60s on Sunday. && .LONG TERM /Sunday Night through Thursday/... Issued at 119 PM EDT Thu Nov 1 2018 Wet weather looks to return to Central Indiana for the start of this period. The ECMWF shows a surface low over the plains states pushing a warm front toward Central Indiana on Sunday Night before Arriving in Central Illinois on Monday night into Tuesday. Broad cyclonic flow appears to remain in place within the lower levels during this period. Meanwhile a broad trough is suggested aloft with a negatively tilted axis passing across the area on Sunday night and again on Tuesday night. Thus with ample dynamics available. Have kept the pops in the forecast as suggested by forecast builder. The ECMWF suggests a broad trough in place across the region on Wednesday and Thursday. However the lower level appear a bit less favorable for precip a Strong High pressure builds across the Plains states and provides dry NW surface flow. Thus will stick with the dry pops for now...but will be mindful of possible upper support with the trough aloft. && .AVIATION /Discussion for the 012100Z KIND TAF Update/... Issued at 428 PM EDT Thu Nov 1 2018 Short term model data suggest decent lift will continue in the KIND vicinity into the late evening hours, so expecting areas of IFR ceilings and visibility due to rain and fog to continue into the evening hours as well. Previous discussion follows. IFR to MVFR Conditions are expected this Taf Period...resulting in poor flying conditions. Low pressure over Kentucky is expected to push northeast to Central Ohio this evening. Models suggest plenty of low IFR Clouds expected within the cyclonic flow as the low propagates northeast.
