...A Flood Warning continues for portions of the following rivers and
streams in Indiana...

  East Fork White River...Wabash River...White River...



.As of late Saturday morning, the last of the significant flooding
was coming to an end in southwest Indiana in the vicinity of Mount
Carmel, Illinois. Lowland flooding was occurring from around
Hutsonville, Illinois to Vincennes, Indiana on the Wabash River, and
from around Petersburg downstream along the White River.

Rainfall earlier today and expected rainfall the rest of today
through Sunday morning is expected to bring rises to area waterways.
River locations expected to see the soonest new flooding are
Lafayette and Montezuma along the Wabash River in western Indiana,
and Seymour on the East Fork White River in southern Indiana. Other
locations along area waterways will be monitored for possible further
flood warnings late today or tomorrow.

Most locations in central Indiana have received less than half an
inch of rainfall in the past 24 hours, ending at 9 AM this morning.
Fairly isolated locations received upwards of three quarters of
an inch or so.  Up to one and a half inches of additional rainfall
is possible by Sunday morning across sections of central and
southern Indiana.

Flood waters will continue to impact state, county, and local roads,
river parks, campgrounds, and other recreational activities near and
on waterways, and agricultural land.


Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go 
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and 
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river 
conditions.

.The East Fork White River at Seymour in southern Indiana is
now expected to crest below flood stage due to less than expected 
rainfall in that area, thus the flood warning is cancelled.

Flooding along the Wabash River at Vincennes and along the White
River at Petersburg in southwest Indiana has come to an end as the
river levels continue to fall. These falls are expected to slow as
rainfall from the current storm system drains into the rivers.


Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Be alert to flood debris on previously flooded roads. Keep children 
away from flooded areas. Recreational and agricultural interests 
should remain alert to changing river conditions.

.SYNOPSIS...
Issued at 128 AM EDT Sat Apr 14 2018

An Active weather weekend is ahead. Strong Low pressure in place
over the plains will push a surge of rain showers across Indiana
today ahead of a cold front. More rain will be expected tonight as
the cold front passes as the low pressure system moves toward the
Great Lakes.

The Low will be lingering near Lake Michigan on Sunday as the
cold front exits east of Indiana. This will create chances for a
few rain showers...however any precipitation should be lighter
than Today.

An upper level low pressure system will then linger across Central
Indiana on Sunday Night into Monday and this may bring a few more
chances for rain or snow showers on Sunday Night into Monday.

The upper low will finally exit the area on Monday Night into
Tuesday...bringing a a return dry weather and moderating
temperatures for the middle of the next work week.

.NEAR TERM /Today/...

Issued at 128 AM EDT Sat Apr 14 2018

Surface analysis early this morning shows Low Pressure in place
over NB and NRN MO...with a cold front stretching south across
Western Missouri into Western Kansas. Water Vapor shows a plume of
deep tropical moisture streaming ahead of the low into the
Mississippi and Ohio River Valleys....along with a deep upper low
over the western plains. Radar shows areas of rain over Illinois
and MO...pushing NE within the flow toward Indiana.

Models suggest a wet day today. Models suggest the plume of
moisture west of the state will advect to Central Indiana this
morning and linger across the area through the day. Our forecast
area looks to stay within the warm sector through the day with
the warm front stretching across northern Indiana. Forecast
soundings show a saturated column in place through the day. Time
heights also show deep saturation in place with strong lift across
the area today. Thus will trend toward 100 pops today. Forecast
soundings show limited instability...thus an isolated thunderstorm
cannot be ruled out. Given our expected rain fall will trend
highs colder than the forecast builder blends...closer toward the
MAVMOS 3hourlys.

.SHORT TERM /Saturday Night through Monday Night/...

Issued at 128 AM EDT Sat Apr 14 2018

THE GFS and NAM suggest more forcing arriving across the area
tonight. Aloft the models suggest the upper low pushes a slightly
negative tilted trough across Indiana...providing strong with
along with the expected surface cold front passage late on
Saturday Night. Again...forecast soundings and time heights show
deep saturation and excellent forcing in play. Thus will trend
again toward 100 pops overnight. As for temps will stick close to
the forecast builder blend due to the arrival of a new air mass in
the wake of the front.

On Sunday and Sunday night the GFS and NAM suggest the upper low
begins to push slowly across NW Indiana toward the Great Lakes.
The Models suggest the dry slot moving across the forecast area on
Sunday in the wake of the low...however...forecast soundings tell
a different story with steep lapse rates and favorable convective
temperatures. Thus some afternoon showers will be possible within
the large...broad cyclonic flow that will be in place across the
region. On Sunday night...wrap around moisture looks to arrive as
cold air advection continues. Forecast soundings fall to a snow
sounding with saturation within the lower levels. Thus
again...some light snow showers will be possible. Will trend temps
here at or below the forecast builder blends.

On Monday...the upper low finally begins to depart to the
northeast...however broad cyclonic flow remains in place across
the regions as the big surface low remains over the Great Lakes.
Forecast soundings again show steep lapse rates within the lower
levels...hinting at instability showers. Thus shower chances will
continue to be required.

Finally by Monday night as heating is lost and High pressure over
the middle Mississippi river valley builds toward Indiana...ending
the cyclonic flow and shower chances. Thus a return to dry weather
then.

.LONG TERM /Tuesday through Friday Night/...

A very broad area of low pressure will encompass much of eastern
Canada and the northeast U.S. early in the period. However,
ridging behind it will keep conditions dry across central Indiana
on Tuesday. So, focus then turns to Wednesday when a warm front
bumps high temperatures back into the mid to upper 60s. The
associated surface low and upper trough tracking through the
Midwest will also trigger some light rain showers (mainly north).
After that, the latest blended initialization is really trending
toward a dry and slightly cooler forecast for the second half of
the extended period as high pressure strengthens over the central
U.S. Due to the strength of that ridge, will not deviate from the
blended initialization at this time by adding any precipitation
chances.

Showers and thunderstorms will impact TAF sites throughout TAF
period as Gulf moisture surges ahead of surface low. VFR
conditions should prevail through the afternoon, but there will be
rapid deterioration to IFR this evening as ceilings fall.
Meanwhile, southerly winds will strengthen this afternoon with
sustained speeds of 11 to 13 kts and gusts up to 22 kts before
becoming more southwesterly and slightly lighter late this
evening.

winds, brief heavy rain and cloud to ground lightning are all
threats.

Hazards: Gusty winds, brief heavy rain, cloud to ground lightning.

Timing: Any time through tonight.

Discussion: A strong low pressure system will bring widespread
showers and a few thunderstorms to central Indiana.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday.

Outlook: A few snow showers could mix in with the rain showers
overnight Sunday night and Monday morning. However, snow accumulation
is not expected.

Freezing temperatures are possible Monday night and early Tuesday
morning.

Discussion: There is a chance for light mixed precipitation Sunday
night into Monday morning. After that, frontal systems will bring
shower chances to all or parts of central Indiana Wednesday and
Wednesday night.
