.SYNOPSIS...
Warm air and moisture will stream across the region for
the remainder of the weekend into Monday...keeping the threat
for showers and isolated thunderstorms, especially this
afternoon thru early this evening. A cold frontal passage is
expected Monday night resulting in drier and colder air
infiltrating the area. High pressure will build in Tuesday
through Thursday, with a secondary high building in starting
Friday.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...
The broad southwest flow continues at the mid levels
and will do so for the duration of the near term period.
Surface features are complex and numerous but the relevant
features for the Eastern Carolinas include a warm front just
inland and a cold front across the Tennessee Valley. Regional
radar shows a large and elongated area of showers and
thunderstorms to our south. This area will continue to provide a
glancing blow to the area mainly coastal zones through about
1300 UTC. At this point there will be somewhat of a minimum in
pops with the focus now shifting to a narrow convective line
developing with the aforementioned front moving to the east.
This front will slowly move into the area through the late
afternoon hours and slow down even more late Sunday night into
Monday morning. The convective line may include some severe
cells with the threat of strong winds being primary. SPC has
maintained the slight risk for a good part of the area with a
slight adjustment inland.

.SHORT TERM /MONDAY THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT/...
As of 300 AM Sunday...Slowly improving conditions expected this
period. Slow at 1st, with deep moisture progged along the
immediate coast and over the adjacent Atlantic waters. A mid-
level s/w trof pushing from the Gulf Coast States and the sfc
cold front dropping southeast, will tend to pull this moisture
back onshore. The coastal counties will likely see one last
hurrah in terms of pcpn. With the upper trof expanding southward
Mon night and Tue, this will push the remaining moisture well
offshore with skies clearing Mon night and Tue being a dry and
partly to mostly sunny day all around. In addition, CAA will be
occurring Mon night and Tue after the CFP late Mon. After we
pass Mon, the threat for pcpn will be null and void for the
remainder of the work week. Well above normal with widespread
70s for Mon maxes dropping to around 60 for Tue maxes. The
European MOS is much colder for Tue and beyond, but will not
bite at this time. Overnight lows will tend to be lower each
successive morning, with widespread 30s by Wed morning.

.LONG TERM /WEDNESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY/...
As of 300 PM Saturday...Cool high pressure will progress
eastward across the area quite slowly, taking until Thursday
evening to move overhead following the Monday night FROPA.
Another high starts building in almost seamlessly from the NW on
Friday keeping the area rain-free but not quite a chilly.

.AVIATION /07Z SUNDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...
As of 06Z...The challenging aviation conditions continue
across the area. A very moist flow in what has become an
evolving warm sector is offering up IFR to even VFR conditions
at times this morning. Will continue to advertise mostly MVFR
conditions per upstream observations although there could be an
occasional IFR reading especially where heavier rain showers
occur. Added some thunder west to east for later this afternoon
as the high resolution guidance is coming into better agreement
on timing.
Extended Outlook...Possible flight restrictions due to low
clouds and showers Sunday through Monday. Predominately VFR
Monday through Thursday.

.MARINE...
NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...
As of 300 AM Sunday...Seas now firmly in small craft
criteria and will remain so for the next 18 hours or so.
Southwest winds have increased as well now hovering around 20
knots. The southwest flow will continue through the period with
a range of 20-25 knots for a while today dropping down tonight
into Monday morning. As mentioned earlier, seas will remain
elevated and the latest guidance has small craft seas lingering
beyond midnight and subsequent shifts may want to extend the
advisory slightly.
SHORT TERM /MONDAY THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT/...
As of 300 AM Sunday...Ongoing SCEC conditions at the start of
this period will likely fade away during the day. The cfp will
occur late Monday or Monday night followed with brief gusty
NW offshore winds along with CAA keeping things mixed over the
local waters. At this point, guidance keeps post frontal winds
and seas below SCA thresholds during Tue with winds veering
slightly to the N as sfc high pressure begins to ridge in from
the Lower Mississippi Valley. The sfc pg temporary pinches Tue
night as a s/w trof in the mid-levels drops southeast across NC
and off the coast. Winds may approach brief SCA thresholds but
will hold off at this time. Significant seas will peak at the
start of this period, 3 to 5 ft, followed by offshore winds
mellowing the seas nearshore during this period, 1 to 3 ft near
shore and 4 possibly 5 footers 20 nm out.
LONG TERM /WEDNESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...
As of 300 PM Saturday...Northerly winds for most if not the
entire period as high pressure builds in from the west at a
very slow pace. Seas will run 2-3 ft for the most part,
occasionally 4. A small decrease in wind and waves slated for
late in the period as the high finally builds in.
