Updated aviation portion for 18Z TAF issuance

.SHORT TERM...Today...Tonight...and Monday
Issued at 330 AM CDT Sun Aug 26 2018

Despite several sites reporting visibilities near 1/4 of a mile
early this morning, area webcams and in situ observations here in
GRB indicate the fog this morning is fairly shallow and transient.
In fact several sites keep bouncing around between various
visibilities, further backing up this assumption. Therefore will
hold off on issuing a Dense Fog Advisory this morning and handle
the current conditions with an SPS statement.

After a foggy start to the morning, temperatures will warm into
the 80s across much of the region as a warm front lifts north
across the western Great Lakes. Across the north highs will
generally be around 80, with lower to middle 80s across central
and east-central Wisconsin away from the lake.

A very moist unstable atmosphere will be in place this afternoon
and tonight as a mid level PV anomaly tracks through the western
Great Lakes with the low level jet increasing to around 50 knots
in the vicinity of a surface warm front. Instability will increase
to 3 to 4 J/g this afternoon and this evening, with 40 to 50 knots
of bulk shear and PWATs around 2 inches. These parameters and
model soundings indicate that strong to severe storms are on the
table along with torrential rains. These storms could produce
damaging winds, large hail and localized flooding. Mesoscale
models indicate the main storm mode this afternoon and tonight
appears to be multi-cell clusters or even a QLCS.

Some of these storms from the complex may be ongoing early Monday
morning as the warm front lifts north across the UP. This will
allow temperatures to rise well into the 80s across the entire
area during the afternoon hours. The warm front will be the focus
for additional showers and thunderstorms Monday afternoon, mainly
across north-central Wisconsin in close proximity to the front.
Given similar severe weather parameters and PWATs, the severe
weather and flooding threat will be on par with today. However the
greatest threat will be across north-central Monday afternoon as
the warm front begins to push south as a cold front late in the
period.

.LONG TERM...Monday Night Through Saturday
Issued at 330 AM CDT Sun Aug 26 2018

The main forecast concerns are severe storms and flooding
potential during the early part of the long term.

A mid level short wave is forecast to pass through Wisconsin on
Monday night. Models had MUCAPE values near or even in excess of
3,000 J/kg, 30 to 50 knots of deep layer shear, and an 850 mb jet
of 50+ knots. In addition to that, PWATs around 2 inches are also
forecast. An approaching cold front looks to be the focus for
storms, and any outflow boundaries or other boundaries in the area
would also help to generate convection. The presence of
significant instability, shear, abundant moisture and a lifting
mechanism should be enough for a damaging wind threat. Flooding
may also be an issue depending upon how much rain falls tonight
and whether the same areas are impacted by heavy rainfall Monday
night. A flood watch may be needed if there is significant
rainfall with tonight's convection.

The cold front is not expected to make much progress into the
state before it stalls across northern Wisconsin on Monday night.
As a result, a third round of storms is possible Tuesday until
the front clears the area. If there is enough time to stabilize on
Tuesday, some storms could be strong or severe.

There should be a period of dry weather from Wednesday afternoon
through Thursday night before the next chance for storms arrives
Friday into Saturday.

Expect above normal temperatures on Tuesday to give way to near or
slightly below normal readings Tuesday night through Thursday
night before a warming trend brings highs mostly in the mid to
upper 70s for Saturday.
&&

.AVIATION...for 18Z TAF Issuance
Issued at 1246 PM CDT Sun Aug 26 2018

VFR conditions will prevail through the afternoon
hours, with some shallow fog possible along the lake Michigan
shore. Showers and thunderstorms will arrive from the southwest
this evening with ceilings and visibilities lowering to IFR at
times. Low level wind shear also possible across the eastern part
of the forecast area.

Skies should clear by 15z Monday as southwest winds increase to
15 to 25 knots. Additional showers and thunderstorms are likely
Monday night.
&&

.MARINE...
Issued at 330 AM CDT Sun Aug 26 2018

Southerly winds will increase late tonight into Monday as a low
pressure system approaches from the west, turning southwesterly
Monday night as a cold front moves through the area. Winds and
waves will likely approach or exceed Small Craft Advisory
criteria, especially across the Lake Michigan nearshore waters
late tonight through Monday night. Given the timing and
uncertainty regarding conditions tonight will hold off on issuing
any headlines with this issuance. However a Small Craft Advisory
will likely be needed at some point, especially for Monday and
Monday night.

In addition to the hazard to boaters, a Beach Hazards Statement
may be needed on Monday for beaches along Lake Michigan due to
the aforementioned high winds and waves, producing an increased
risk for rip currents.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

There is a slight risk of severe storms over most of the area
this afternoon into tonight. The primary concerns with these
storms are damaging winds and large hail. Torrential rainfall
could lead to localized flooding.

Areas of dense fog could make travel hazardous in some areas
early today.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday

There is a slight risk of severe storms across the area Monday
into Monday night. The primary concerns with these storms are
damaging winds and large hail. Torrential rainfall could lead to
flooding, especially in locations that receive heavy rain with
tonight's storms.

Large waves may result in dangerous currents and hazardous
swimming conditions on Lake Michigan beaches on Monday.

There is a marginal risk of severe storms, mainly in central and
east-central Wisconsin Tuesday afternoon and evening. Damaging
winds and large hail are the main concerns with these storms.
Heavy rainfall and flooding remain a concern with the storms.

There is another chance for thunderstorms Friday into the
weekend, but is too early to determine their severe potential.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotters activation may be needed this afternoon or evening.
Spotters are also requested to report any flooding to the National
Weather Service in Green Bay.

Tuesday night. Some of these storms could be strong or severe.
Thunderstorms are possible again Friday into next weekend.

Conditions hazardous to small craft are possible Monday and Monday
