Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Green Bay WI 330 PM CDT Sat Apr 14 2018 Forecast discussion for routine afternoon forecast issuance .SHORT TERM...Tonight and Sunday Issued at 329 PM CDT Sat Apr 14 2018 Historical April snowstorm continues to unfold tonight into Sunday evening. Last night into this morning, a 60 mile wide band of heavy snow occurred from Wausau to Marshfield to Wisconsin Rapids eastward to Green Bay, Oconto, Sturgeon Bay and Kewaunee. Snowfall totals in this band were from 6 to 18 inches. For the remainder of the afternoon, scattered snow showers will continue to move across the area. The heavier snow is expected to return later this evening into the overnight hours and continue into Sunday. Hard to believe, but will have snowfall totals of 15 to 20 inches across the north with lighter amounts of 6 to 10 inches across the far south due to some mixing. Travel will become very difficult tonight into Sunday as gusty northeast winds continue. Near blizzard conditions are possible at times across the Fox Valley and lakeshore region. .LONG TERM...Sunday Night Through Saturday Issued at 329 PM CDT Sat Apr 14 2018 The last remnants of the ongoing winter storm will be exiting at the start of the long term. Attention then turns over to the next approaching system, set to arrive early Wednesday to Wednesday afternoon. Precipitation will be on its way out Sunday night into Monday. There will be enough lingering moisture wrapping around this system to keep some scattered snow showers in place through Monday however. With temperatures hovering around freezing and ample dry air aloft, there will be a chance to see some freezing drizzle in the region along the lakeshore of eastern Wisconsin. Another 1-3 inches will be possible over the course of Monday. High pressure will then move in to the region for a brief period. The next low pressure system will be spinning up across Colorado and heading towards the region by Wednesday. Once again temperatures and moisture will move into the region ahead of the system with the warm front, with the freezing line draped across the Fox Valley. This makes it likely we'll be facing another round of rain and snow mixed throughout the day, with the possibility to face a few more inches of snow, although how much is uncertain at this time. Temperatures will remain below normal through the week, gradually rising through the week until we get back to the lower to upper 40s by the end of the week. && .AVIATION...for 18Z TAF Issuance Issued at 1157 AM CDT Sat Apr 14 2018 Poor flying conditions are expected across much of the area today, except the far north.
