Skies are expected to clear through the evening hours as surface
high pressure builds in the region. As winds go light through
evening hours, expect good radiative conditions to result in
temperatures falling into the 30s. Clouds across Nebraska are
expected to lift north and east after midnight resulting in an
uptick in temperatures as clouds spread across the region. Have
issued a frost advisory mainly east of a line from Brookings to
Spencer where the radiative conditions will last the longest.
Increasing return flow on Saturday will draw increasing amounts of
low level moisture back into the region. This will lead to
increasing clouds. With lift through the cloud layer and stratus
becoming thick enough to support collision and coalescence process,
have added mention of drizzle through the afternoon hours. Have
shaved a few degrees off highs in the east because of this.
.LONG TERM...(Saturday night through Friday)

With mid level front hanging around throughout the day on Sunday,
expect clouds to hang tough leading to a fairly gray weekend. Best
chances of precipitation appear to be across the southern cwa
closer to the frontogenetic forcing.
Fairly active week setting up with a series of waves moving through.
The first wave moves through the region on Sunday night as wave
translates from west to east. Not much in the way of instability
with the wave, so have dropped mention to isolated t.
Once this system moves through, remnants of hurricane Rosa migrate
into the Midwest leading to a tropical airmass in the region. Have
raised winds Tuesday night, but not as much as the GFS or ECMWF
would suggest.
Warm sector of the strong low coming up looks capped, with the cold
front pivoting through the region on Wednesday.
Potential for heavier rain event Thursday night as leading shortwave
to an upper level trough lifts northeast over east west stationary
boundary south of the forecast area. South of the boundary, plenty
of moisture feeding into the region with the Gulf wide open much of
the week.
