Steep low level lapse rates in the 850-800 mb layer may lead to a moist cloud/isolated shower or two north of I-90 this afternoon. With the loss of surface heating this evening, skies should quickly clear leading to a pleasant evening. With dew points near 60, will be a great night to open the windows and air out the house. .LONG TERM...(Monday through Saturday) Issued at 410 AM CDT Sun Jul 1 2018 The heat and humidity will build throughout the Fourth of July holiday as southerly flow develops on the backside of a large ridge across the eastern half of the US. With capping inversion not overly strong on Monday, could see some late day storms develop. CAPE of 1500-2000 J/kg and decent mid level speed shear will create potential for a few severe storms Monday evening. Depending on moisture profile, storms may become increasingly elevated the further east one goes in the forecast area.
