This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of North and Central Georgia.

.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight...

Scattered to numerous thunderstorms are expected across north and
central Georgia today and tonight. The best chances will be during
the afternoon and evening hours. A few storms could become severe
with the main hazards being locally heavy rainfall, strong, gusty
winds and frequent lightning.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday...

A strong storm system approaching the region Friday and moving
across the area through Saturday will increase the chances for
severe thunderstorms those two days. The primary hazards will be
damaging wind gusts, frequent lightning and very heavy rainfall.

Otherwise, scattered thunderstorms are expected Sunday through
Wednesday. A few strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible each
day with strong, gusty winds, frequent lightning, and heavy
rainfall.

...SIGNIFICANT WEATHER ADVISORY FOR NORTHEASTERN FLOYD COUNTY UNTIL
500 PM EDT...

At 422 PM EDT...a strong thunderstorm was centered in northern parts
of Rome...moving northeast at 10 mph.

  HAZARD...40 to 50 mph wind...up to penny sized hail...frequent
           cloud to ground lightning and heavy rain.

  IMPACT...Expect minor damage to tree limbs and blowing around of
           light...unsecured objects. Heavy rain may cause temporary
           street flooding especially in poor drainage areas.

Some locations in the path of this storm include
Rome, Shannon, Pinson and Armuchee.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

People outdoors should seek shelter immediately. If you can hear
thunder...you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Motorists
should slow down and be prepared for possible loss of control due to
hydroplaning.
