.Plenty of moisture along with a series of upper level disturbances
will result in continued moderate to heavy rainfall across
portions of south central Texas through Thursday. For tonight into
Wednesday morning, the focus for heavy rainfall is expected to 
remain primarily across Val Verde and Edwards counties. Rainfall
chances continue on Wednesday, but it appears the higher rainfall
amounts will remain over west central Texas. However, runoff from
this rainfall could still pose a flood threat across Guadalupe,
Llano and Colorado River basins. Late Wednesday night into
Thursday, another surge of moisture will move into south central 
Texas. This will likely bring additional moderate to heavy 
rainfall to much of south central Texas, especially for areas 
along and west of the I-35 corridor.

* The region remains saturated from recent heavy rainfall.
  Additional moderate to heavy rainfall will result in more rapid
  runoff leading to flooding.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action

.AVIATION...
Ceilings have scattered out along the I-35 corridor where VFR
conditions are now prevailing. IFR/MVFR cigs continue along the Rio
Grande but ceilings out west should continue to dissipate through the
afternoon with VFR breaking out by 20z. The story of this TAF package
will be the approaching cold front. For the I-35 terminals thunderstorms
and dropping cigs are expected ahead of the front beginning around
05z. The front should arrive between 08z-10z along I-35 with
precipitation transitioning from a thunderstorm treat to rain showers
behind the front with a stiff north wind of 15 knots gusting to 25
knots through most of Monday. At DRT chances of showers and
thunderstorms begin this afternoon, with thunderstorms possible by
02z tonight.The front should arrive at DRT around 07z with gusty
north winds and showers continuing well into Monday.

SHORT TERM (Today through Tuesday)...
Early morning surface observations show a frontal boundary located
roughly along a Austin to Junction line. Showers continue to develop
along this boundary, as well as farther eastward into the Highway 77
corridor and coastal plains. Elsewhere across south central Texas,
cloud cover is expanding across the region with temperatures in the
70s ahead of the front with some 60s noted behind the boundary.

The above mentioned frontal boundary will weaken and become
increasingly diffuse today as southerly flow in the low-levels begins
to slowly increase. Meanwhile, an upper level trough over the western
U.S. will strengthen and drop southward. As this occurs, we will begin
to see an increase in southwest flow aloft. This along with daytime
heating should be enough to help initiate some isolated to scattered
showers and storms today. With deeper moisture remaining over the
coastal plains, we will keep the highest chance for rain across the
eastern portion of our forecast area. The hi-res models also show
some potential for a few cells to develop over the higher terrain of
Mexico this afternoon, then move east toward Val Verde county. Should
this activity make it into Val Verde county, we could see a strong to
severe storm or two late this afternoon or early evening.

The weather pattern will become increasingly active this evening and
tonight as a strong cold front moves in from the north. We have
followed the hi-res guidance with regards to timing and prefer a
faster frontal passage vs. the global models slower timing. Strong
frontal forcing will aid in the development of numerous showers and
thunderstorms this evening and tonight, especially along and west of
the I-35 corridor. Strong to severe thunderstorms along with heavy
rainfall will be possible overnight into Monday morning, with the
higher chances for severe weather remaining along and west of the
I-35 corridor. Damaging winds and large hail will be the main severe
weather concerns.

Much colder temperatures can also be expected behind the front with
many areas seeing falling temperatures throughout the day. High
temperatures on Monday will struggle to reach the mid 40s in the Hill
Country to near 60 in the coastal plains. Severe weather concerns
will fade quickly on Monday behind the front. However, we will
continue to see a very high chance for rain, with some locally heavy
rainfall possible, mainly in the morning hours.

High rain chances along with well below normal temperatures continue
into Tuesday as warm air advection above the cold air near the
surface results in widespread showers along with a low chance for a
few thunderstorms. While we do not expect deep convection resulting
in high rainfall rates, any additional moderate rainfall could result
in some minor flooding. Rainfall amounts through Tuesday should
remain in the 1-2 inch range along and east of I-35. Amounts west of
I-35 will be higher, with 2 to 4 inches, with isolated amounts up to
6 inches possible.

LONG TERM (Wednesday through Saturday)...
The overall weather pattern is not expected to change much through
the end of the work week. A deep trough in the mid and upper levels
will remain to our west, while surface high pressure continues to
funnel cold air southward into Texas. A reinforcing shot of cooler
air looks to arrive Saturday as the operational GFS and ECMWF begin
to show some disagreement with the mid and upper level flow pattern.
We will keep a chance of rain in the forecast given continued warm
air advection in the mid-levels. Temperatures will also remain below
normal through the remainder of the forecast with cold air advection
in the low-levels and a continued chance for rain.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for South-Central Texas..

.DAY ONE...Today And Tonight.

Isolated strong to severe storms will be possible Sunday night
across mainly the western and northern two-thirds of South
Central Texas. Some of these storms could produce damaging wind
and hail. In addition, locally heavy rainfall is possible,
especially across the Hill Country, southern Edwards Plateau, and
portions of the Rio Grande Plains.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday.

Locally heavy rainfall will continue to be possible Monday
through Thursday across all of South Central Texas, which could
result in minor flooding of larger streams and rivers.

A strong cold front will reach South Central Texas Sunday evening
and bring a drastic change in temperatures Monday and Tuesday.
Widespread wind chill indices in the 40s are expected Monday
through Wednesday morning with indices dropping as low as the mid
30s in the Hill Country. A cold rain through the period will only
add to the discomfort.
