.DISCUSSION...High pressure continues to dominate the weather
across the region with mostly sunny skies. Patchy fog this morning
burned off quickly. Decent downslope flow allowed the temperature
at CEC to reach 76 degrees earlier this afternoon, which beat the
old record by 4 degrees. Otherwise, most coastal temperatures
remained in the 60s. More patchy fog is possible over portions of
the coastal plain and interior valleys again tonight, but it is
expected to be fairly shallow and burn off quickly on Thursday.
As N winds increase late in the week, a bit more low clouds and
fog are possible from Cape Mendocino to Humboldt Bay, but
confidence is low.

Dry weather is expected to continue for most of the foreseeable
future. The models are still struggling with the strength and
positioning of the shortwaves diving S over the W during the
weekend and early next week. The first feature is expected to drop
S well E of the area over the weekend. The second feature is
expected to be stronger and farther to the W as it drops S. The
GFS continues to be the strongest and farthest W, and the latest
run is even more so. Have introduced isolated showers to the
forecast for Sunday night over the N portion of the area, but this
forecast remains highly uncertain. /SEC

.AVIATION...VFR conditions are expected to prevail tonight
through Thursday. BUFKIT soundings continue to indicate very dry
air below 1000 feet tonight but with much less NE to E winds.
Brief mist or haze will be possible for terminals near the ocean.
Conditions will likely deteriorate Thursday night or Friday as
northerlies increase offshore and vertical temperature and
dewpoint profiles become favorable for stratus generation at north
coast terminals.

.MARINE...Winds and seas have subsided across the area. N winds
are expected to increase again by Thursday night, and a Small
Craft Advisory will likely be needed for the offshore waters on
one of the next forecast package issuances. W swell will continue
through the remainder of the week with fresh W swell entering the
area by the weekend. /SEC
