.DISCUSSION...An upper ridge over the Pacific will be a quasi-
permanent feature during the next 7 days. Northwest California
will generally reside beneath northwest flow aloft along the east
side of the ridge. This flow regime will favor dry conditions
throughout the forecast period. In addition, large-scale
subsidence forced by the ridge combined with a residually humid
boundary layer will aid in patchy valley fog. Furthermore,
moderate surface northerlies over the coastal waters will favor
ocean upwelling during Friday, which could augment low-level
stability and result in the development of marine stratus.
Otherwise, north to northeast winds over the interior will support
very warm daytime highs this weekend, with some locations
experiencing low to mid 70s.

.AVIATION...High clouds are moving over all terminals this
afternoon and will stick around through the evening. With these
higher clouds fog should be very limited this evening however
visibilities may be reduced at times at all three terminals. KUKI
will have the best chance at seeing fog and low cloud development
tonight. Otherwise, VFR conditions will prevail through tomorrow.

.MARINE...Northerly winds will peak this afternoon before
gradually decreasing through the evening. Winds will be strongest
across the southern outer waters. These winds are in response to
high pressure building northeast of the area while a thermal low
develops inland. This pressure gradient will relax on Thursday
before it re-amplifies on Friday. This will result in
strengthening northerly winds on Friday and persisting through the
weekend. Short period waves will also begin to build this weekend
in response to the strong northerly winds. In addition to the
short period waves a westerly swell will begin to build across the
waters late in the weekend. /WCI
