...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 530 PM CDT
FOR SOUTHEASTERN HANCOCK AND SOUTHWESTERN MCDONOUGH COUNTIES...

At 458 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Augusta, or 15
miles southeast of Carthage, and is nearly stationary.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to 
         roofs, siding, and trees.

Locations impacted include...
Carthage, Augusta, Ferris, Tennessee, Colmar, Plymouth, Fountain
Green, Bentley, Webster and Hancock County Fairgrounds.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
sturdy building.

This storm has a history of producing quarter sized hail. SEEK 
SHELTER NOW inside a sturdy structure and stay away from windows.

Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading
killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to
be struck by lightning.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

...THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR SOUTHEASTERN HANCOCK AND
SOUTHWESTERN MCDONOUGH COUNTIES IS CANCELLED...
        
The storm which prompted the warning has moved out of the area.
Therefore, the warning has been cancelled.  However small hail and 
heavy rain are still possible with a thunderstorms over the area. 

Also, radar indicates several inches of rain has fallen over the 
past two hours in portions of southeast Hancock County. Additional 
heavy rain from slow moving thunderstorms may lead to ponding of 
water and flooding along small streams.  

To report severe weather, contact your nearest law enforcement
agency. They will relay your report to the National Weather Service
the Quad Cities.

.SYNOPSIS...
Issued at 245 PM CDT Sat May 26 2018

At 2 PM CDT, region under very warm surface and upper air high
pressure with well above normal temperatures. Isolated cumulus
supports may a risk of late PM pulse storms that may be briefly
severe in the 4 to 8 PM time period, mostly south of highway 34.
Hot and humid conditions to prevail into Memorial day with dry
to mostly dry conditions with near record highs with PM heat
indices into the mid 90s for several hours.

.SHORT TERM...(This Evening through Sunday)

Short Term Forecast Confidence Assessment...good or above average
with little sensible weather. Highs and low should be within 3
degrees of forecast with some patchy fog an issue to monitor late
tonight.

Tonight...warm and a bit muggy with light winds with mins upper
60s to near 70 degrees. Once again, risk of shallow fog in low
lying areas toward sunrise.

Sunday...near record highs in the lower to middle 90s expected and
slightly lower dewpoints with heat indices reaching into the mid
90s mostly locations for several hours. Winds will tend to be
southerly at around 5 mph limiting any relief from the heat.

.LONG TERM...(Sunday Night through Saturday)

Long Term Forecast Confidence Assessment...good or above average
with main issue the coverage of risk of any convection toward mid
week. Temperatures mostly above average and mostly dry to dry.

Memorial Day...another hot and a bit humid day similar to Sunday.
Highs lower to middle 90s and heat indices in PM hours into the
mid 90s for several hours with winds a bit stronger out of the
southeast at 5 to 10 mph. Mins both Monday and Tuesday AM upper
60s to around 70 and dry conditions.

Tuesday and Wednesday...slightly cooler with highs around 90F
Tuesday and middle 80s on Wednesday with slight chance to chance
of showers and storms, mostly Wednesday PM with near severe
possible suggested attm. Lows in the upper 60s.

Thursday through Saturday...minor changes with highs lower to
middle 80s and mins mostly in the middle 60s and some lower 60s in
the north possible.

Summertime surface and upper air high pressure is resulting in
very light winds and clear skies across the upper midwest. VFR

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of north central
Illinois...northwest Illinois...west central Illinois...east
central Iowa...northeast Iowa...southeast Iowa and northeast
Missouri.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT

Isolated thunderstorms are possible this afternoon across
southeast Iowa, northeast Missouri and west central Illinois. Severe
weather is not expected. The main threat from any thunderstorm
would be lightning and heavy rain.

Hot weather is expected today with heat indices reaching the mid
90s. Be sure to drink plenty of water if outdoors.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SUNDAY THROUGH FRIDAY

Hot and humid conditions are expected through the Memorial Day
weekend. Heat indices will be in the mid to upper 90s through
Monday.

Thunderstorms are possible Tuesday into Wednesday next week. At
this time it is too soon to tell if any storms will be severe.

SOUTHWESTERN MCDONOUGH COUNTIES UNTIL 430 PM CDT...

At 351 PM CDT, strong thunderstorms were clustered near Carthage,
moving southeast at 15 mph.

Wind gusts up to 50 mph and dime size hail are possible with this
storm.

Locations impacted include...
Carthage, Colchester, La Harpe, Blandinsville, Augusta, Ferris,
Tennessee, Fandon, Burnside, Colmar, Plymouth, Fountain Green,
Bentley, Doddsville, Webster, Hancock County Fairgrounds and Argyle
Lake State Park.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may cause
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.

IOWA COUNTIES UNTIL 500 PM CDT...

At 408 PM CDT, a strong thunderstorm was located near Keswick, or 13
miles north of Sigourney, moving slowly southeast at 5 to 10 mph.

Winds in excess of 40 mph and dime size hail are possible with this
storm.

Locations impacted include...
Sigourney, North English, Keswick, South English, Millersburg,
Kinross, Webster, Thornburg, Yenruogis County Park, Lake Belva Deer
Park and Sigourney Iowa Airport.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may cause
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
