river basin will result in river rises above flood stage
during the next few days.

stage by Sunday morning and then crest near 19.5 feet Sunday
evening then begin falling. The river will remain above flood
stage until further notice.
* At 20.0 feet Major flooding below Cotulla to below Tilden occurs,
and cuts off extensive portions of the flood plain, requiring
wholesale evacuation of livestock from the area. Roads and bridges
near the river flood severely. Hunting cabins, pump jacks, tank
batteries, irrigation pumps and any equipment in low areas near the
river flood.

water over Farm to Market 763. County Road 43 is flooded. Staples

Numerous to widespread showers and thunderstorms have developed
across South Texas overnight/early this morning. Showers and
thunderstorms will persist across and around area terminals
throughout the period. A weak cold front slowly stalling across
the region will keep winds light and variable, though there could
be some higher gusts within the thunderstorms. Heavy rainfall will
be possible in some of this activity. A mix of VFR and MVFR
ceilings and visibilities will occur today into tomorrow as the
numerous showers and thunderstorms cross over area terminals.

SHORT TERM (Today through Monday)...
Widespread showers and thunderstorms have developed across the Rio
Grande Plains and Brush country, with more scattered convection
beginning to pop up across the coast and move inland. A cold front
draped across the region will slowly drift south while it
continues to interact with very deep tropical moisture (PWATs
2.2-2.4 inches) and an upper level trough overhead to produce
numerous to widespread showers and thunderstorms across South
Texas today through Monday. Across the Rio Grande Plains and
western Brush Country near 2 inches of rain, with locally higher
amounts have already fallen, and the Flash Flood Watch continues
through this evening for the western four counties. Anticipate
coverage of showers and storms to increase and spread further east
throughout the day today. Further east could still see periods of
moderate to heavy rainfall. However, lower rainfall amounts over
the past few days across the east should prevent more widespread
flash flooding (though a localized issue cannot be ruled out).
Additional rounds of showers and thunderstorms will continue
across South Texas tonight through Monday as disturbances round
the the upper level trough overhead and the cold front stalls
across the region.
Cooler afternoon temperatures can be expected today and tomorrow,
mainly owing to the widespread rainfall and overcast skies across
the region. Highs will stay capped in the low to mid 80s inland,
and in the upper 80s to near 90 along the coast.
LONG TERM (Monday night through Saturday)...
Upper level trough remains draped across South Texas heading into
Tuesday. Deep moisture will reside across the coastal locations so
another day of isolated to scattered convection seems likely. Pops
will range from 20-30 percent over the western Webb county where
some drier air attempts to move in to 60 percent along the coast. On
Wednesday, upper level ridge attempts to slide to the east but
probably won't make it all the way into the region. Will keep pops
in the chance category for Wednesday as sufficient moisture will be
in place. The forecast was not changed too much heading into the
latter part of the extended. Deeper slug of tropical moisture will
move westward across the Gulf of Mexico towards the end of the work
week. This will likely result in daily convection Thursday through
Saturday with favored locations across Coastal Bend, Victoria
Crossroads, and Gulf Waters where deepest moisture will reside.
Temperatures through the extended will generally be below normal.
Highs on Tuesday will only be in the middle to upper 80s due to
abundant cloud cover and rain chances. Upper 80s to lower 90s can be
expected Wednesday through Saturday.
