.SYNOPSIS...
A slow moving cold front will bring unsettled weather through
Tuesday. High pressure will then prevail until another cold front
crosses through late next week.

&&

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM SUNDAY MORNING/...
Layered clouds were prevalent across the forecast area this
evening in the warm sector which blankets all of the southeast
U.S. coast. Mid level NVA is evident and the weather should
remain dry through most of the night. The leading edge of pre-
frontal showers could approach the inland counties late in the
night. We maintained some low end POPs prior to sunrise to the
west of I-95.

Areas of sea fog could expand over the shelf waters overnight,
In-and-out foggy conditions (locally dense) are likely near the
land/sea interface on the beaches and barrier islands and up
river and creek channels. Low level wind fields and elevated
moisture aloft should be enough to preclude widespread dense fog
elsewhere. Very mild conditions will continue over the area
with readings in the 60s all areas overnight.

.SHORT TERM /6 AM SUNDAY MORNING THROUGH TUESDAY/...
Sunday: Deep layered ridging will prevail over the western Atlantic
while a slow moving cold front shifts into the western Carolinas.
This will place the forecast area within deep southwest flow.
Highest POPs will be across the interior zones, closer to the axis
of best forcing and moisture. It should be the warmest day of the
period with highs reaching the mid to upper 70s for most locations
away from the immediate coast. Lows Sunday night will be quite mild,
approaching record high minimum values of the low 60s. Given the
warm, moist airmass in place, fog is possible at night. At the
beaches, some fog may already be present from sea fog moving onshore.

Monday: The cold front will move closer. Shortwave energy is progged
to traverse overhead, and with a persistent tap into Gulf moisture,
showers are forecasted. Some instability will support mention of
thunder. Highs will be in the 70s. Lows will remain mild.

Tuesday: High pressure will continue to wedge down the east coast
allowing the cold front to sink south through the area. Moisture and
forcing for ascent remains present so a decent coverage of showers
is expected again. Later on Tuesday, precip chances should decrease
and become more confined to the coast as the front and axis of best
moisture begins to exit. It will be a vast change in temperature
from previous days as the wedge strengthens. Temperatures will be
near normal.

.LONG TERM /TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY/...
Surface high pressure will expand over the area Wednesday before
getting suppressed to the south in advance of a cold front.
Significant differences exist between the global models regarding
timing of frontal passage with the GFS the faster solution showing
early Friday, and the Euro early Saturday. Moisture looks to be
limited, so doesn't appear to have much precipitation accompanying
the front. Temperatures will again be above normal.

.AVIATION /03Z SUNDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...
KCHS: Stratus and IFR/LIFR cigs should develop/advect over the
terminal by midnight and persist into Sunday morning. Stratus
build- down to a dense fog scenario is less likely tonight due
to increased low level wind fields and more in the way of mid
and high level clouds. We maintained previous trends from the
18Z cycle on the 00Z release, MVFR to VFR on Sunday afternoon
with breezy conditions at times.

KSAV: Low cigs already at the terminal and with a continued
south flow and low level inversion we expect LIFR/IFR cigs
through mid morning on Sunday. Depending and how low stratus
reach, vsbys may be reduced below 1/2 mile overnight but
there appears to be less of a risk for lengthy periods of
1/4 mile or less given the clouds aloft. Cigs will lift and
scatter out as surface temps warm Sunday. Conditions are
expected to improve nearing midday.

Extended Aviation Outlook: A slow moving cold front will bring
flight restrictions Sunday night through Tuesday.

.MARINE...
Overnight: Steady south winds will continue across the marine
zones through the night, gusts may build into the upper teens
across AMZ374 late. Low temperatures and dewpoints tonight are
forecast to range from around 60 over the CHS harbor to the
upper 50s across the near shore waters. The boundary layer
conditions have returned to saturation this evening. Marine fog
and stratus are expected to expand across the marine zones
overnight. Since low level wind fields were a bit stronger than
24 hours ago, we think vsbys will be more variable and perhaps
somewhat lesser in total coverage through daybreak.

Sunday through Thursday: Atlantic high pressure will prevail into
Monday ahead of a slow moving cold front. South winds are expected
to be 15 kt or less. The front will sink south through the waters
late Monday as a wedge of high pressure builds in from the north. A
tightening pressure gradient may result in winds/seas reaching small
craft advisory criteria beginning as early as Tuesday morning,
mainly in the nearshore SC waters. Conditions will improve Wednesday
as high pressure expands over the area. Winds will again increase
Thursday in advance of the next cold front.

Sea Fog: A warm and very humid air mass will overspread the cooler
shelf waters this weekend. This will lead to a risk of sea fog
today through early next week.
