.SYNOPSIS...
Hurricane Florence is expected to impact the Carolinas Thursday
into the weekend.

&&

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING/...
Scattered convection continues to blossom along the middle South
Carolina coast. Increased pops in the Charleston Metro Area per
latest KCLX reflectivity trends. Still expect convection to
cluster west of I-95 later this afternoon.

&&

.SHORT TERM /6 PM THIS EVENING THROUGH SATURDAY/...
Tonight: Mainly dry weather expected with some low level
backing overnight and showers and tstms probably on isolated
off the coast. No changes to lows.

Thursday through Saturday: Winds will generally be on an
increasing trend as Florence approaches the coast of the
Carolinas during the day Thursday. Based on the latest NHC track
forecast, Florence will then begin to slide west to southwest
late Thursday. Conditions will deteriorate rapidly as the storm
approaches. Remember that direct impacts from a major hurricane
extend well away from the center, and that further changes in
forecast track are possible as model guidance continues to
diverge, potentially bringing large changes to local impacts.
Based on the latest guidance through Friday, precipitation
amounts of around an inch with locally higher amounts for
northeastern most locations will taper to one-quarter inch or
less southwest across primarily Georgia, with additional
rainfall appearing likely into the weekend. Please refer to the
latest advisory on Florence from the National Hurricane Center.

.LONG TERM /SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY/...
Forecast uncertainty remains high through this period as model
guidance diverges significantly. Florence or its remnants look to be
located nearby through at least the weekend. An array of possible
scenarios makes for a very difficult, low confidence forecast
through the long term period. At a minimum, elevated POPs remain
warranted through the period given proximity to Florence. Please
refer to the latest advisory from the National Hurricane
Center.

.AVIATION /16Z WEDNESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY/...
VFR. Convection should concentrate west of the terminals by 18z,
but may need to include VCTS, especially at KSAV, at the last
minute pending radar trends.

Extended Aviation Outlook: Chances are increasing for at least
periods of flight restrictions late this week due to impacts from
Hurricane Florence. Restrictions due to low ceilings and/or reduced
surface vsbys in heavy precipitation are possible primarily at KCHS
through the end of the week, then increased chances will exist for
both KCHS and KSAV into the weekend, but confidence decreases late
in the week due to uncertainty in the track of Florence. Outside of
flight restrictions, strong and gusty surface winds are appearing
increasingly likely.

.MARINE...
Small Craft Advisories remain in effect for the coastal waters
south of the Hurricane Watch area.

Today: Northeast flow will remain in the 10-15 kt range today,
increasing with gradually tightening low level gradient tonight.
Seas will build to SCA levels to the south of Edisto Beach and
the GA waters late today and push higher tonight in the 7-9 ft
range northern waters to 5-7 ft southern GA waters.

Thursday through Monday: Coastal marine zones will be within the
fringes of broader cyclonic flow around approaching Hurricane
Florence on Thursday. Forecast uncertainty increases later this week
due to remaining uncertainty with the track of Hurricane Florence.
Based on the latest official track, tropical storm conditions appear
likely for at least the Charleston near-shore waters late this week
and into the weekend. A southward shift in the track could easily
expand hazardous conditions into additional marine zones bordering
southeast South Carolina and southeast Georgia. Outside of tropical
watches/warnings, Small Craft Advisories continue into late week for
remaining nearshore waters and offshore Georgia waters. At least
some of these Advisories may be eventually superseded by
tropical watches/warnings. Refer to the latest advisory from the
National Hurricane Center.

Rip Currents and High Surf: Long period swell generated by Hurricane
Florence will increasingly impact the coast through the weekend,
contributing to an enhanced risk for rip currents for all beaches.
As swell height and period continue to increase, powerful rip
currents and high/rough surf will become increasingly likely,
with High Surf Advisories possibly needed as early as Wednesday
evening. No one should enter the surf due to these life
threatening conditions.

Waterspouts: Conditions will favor waterspouts across the
coastal waters through early afternoon. A Marine Weather
Statement has been issued to alert mariners.

.TIDES/COASTAL FLOODING...
A Coastal Flood Advisory has been posted for Beaufort County.
Tides in Charleston Harbor are expected to peak 7.1 to 7.3 ft
MLLW which is just above advisory criteria for the lower South
Carolina coast. The advisory was not issued for Charleston and
Coastal Colleton Counties as this area is covered by a Storm
Surge Watch. Shallow coastal flooding will still occur in these
areas, including Downtown Charleston.

Tide levels will remain elevated this week due to onshore winds and
building swell from Hurricane Florence. Additional Coastal Flood
Advisories may be needed, especially during the evening high tides
for portions of the coast not covered by tropical watches or
warnings. Peak tide heights during the middle and latter part of the
week will be highly dependent on the track of Florence.

Coastal Flooding: Tide levels will remain elevated this week due to
onshore winds and building swell from Hurricane Florence. Additional
Coastal Flood Advisories are expected, especially during the evening
high tides. However, the heights of the tides during the middle and
latter part of the week will be highly dependent on the track of
Florence.

Tropical Weather: Hurricane Florence will impact the Southeast coast
later this week. The impacts to our area will depend on the track of
