.SYNOPSIS...
Warm and dry weather continues today. Dangerous heat and humidity
impacts the interior Monday along with record high temperatures. A
cold front may trigger a few thunderstorms with heavy rainfall
Monday night. Behind the departing cold front, less humid and not
as hot Tuesday afternoon through Saturday.

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING/...
930 AM update...

Mid level ridge axis extending north across the Gt Lakes with
NW flow aloft over New Eng will provide sunshine and warm
temps today. Column is rather dry today and despite temps
reaching mid 80s to around 90 degrees away from the coastline,
humidity levels will be comfortable with dewpoints in the 50s.
Weak BL winds will promote coastal seabreezes which will keep
temps cooler along the coast. Current forecast on track.

.SHORT TERM /6 PM THIS EVENING THROUGH 6 PM MONDAY/...
Tonight...

Warm front will be approaching as ridge continues to build aloft
toward 590dm. However, it may slow given diurnal trend and very
weak S support aloft. Therefore, dwpts in the low-mid 50s during
the afternoon and evening should allow temps to dip into the
upper 50s and low 60s. This is milder than previous nights, but
not as warm/humid as it would be if the front were to push
through sooner. The front should shift north rapidly with
sunrise induced mixing. This will allow the dwpts to rapidly
increase into the low-mid 60s at the sfc. Given the slow
increase in sfc dwpts, expect offshore stratus development to be
diminished or too late, with the likelihood of impacting mainly
the S coast during the early morning hours once the dwpts exceed
SSTs in the upper 50s and low 60s near shore.

Mon...

The primary issue will be the risk for high heat indices.
Dewpoints will continue to rise through the day, likely topping
out in the upper 60s and low 70s by early evening, when sfc
mixing begins to diminish. H85 temps warm somewhat, but
subsidence inversion yields H92 temps near +26C to +28C which
based on SPC sounding climatology may exceed record H92 temps at
both CHH and ALY. Even if mixing is not as deep, this will yield
widespread highs in the 90s, possibly upper 90s especially in
the CT and Merrimack valleys where a downslope component to the
W-E flow can be maximized. Heat indices reach near or above 100F
as a result. This is likely to require a heat advisory for some
areas of the BOX CWA. RI/SE MA likely a bit cooler thanks to
onshore component to the flow and potential for low cloud
development as dwpts rise.

Regarding the risk for afternoon and evening convection, PWATS
will be increasing through the column to near 2.00in. This
increase in moisture should allow for some sfc and mixed layer
CAPE values near 1000j/kg. However lapse rates are modest. Sfc
and upper lvl gradients support almost uniform W-E flow,
limiting convergence. Therefore, feel bulk of convection remains
to the NW during the afternoon. However will need to watch this
timing, if something fires across NY state, it could move in
before 00Z to NW portions of MA. SPC SWODY2 has shifted marginal
risk to portions of MA N of the Mass Pike.

.LONG TERM /MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY/...
Highlights...

* A few thunderstorms with heavy rain possible Mon night
* Dry, less humid and not as hot Tuesday afternoon thru Saturday

Monday night...

Anomalous moist airmass across southern New England with PWATs
greater than 2 inches. These values are +3 standard deviations above
climo! Given surface dew pts are  around 70 deg, this results in 500-
1000j/kg of MUcape overnight. Thus ample moisture and instability
for convection. 850-500 mb Qvector convergence suggest modest
synoptic scale forcing associated with approaching short wave. All
of these attributes supports scattered showers and T-storms with
heavy downpours possible. However with poor mid level lapse rates
unable to support strong/vigorous updrafts, severe weather is
unlikely. However sufficient instability to enhance updrafts and
coupled with anomalous deep layer moisture, main concern with any
storms will be risk for locally heavy rainfall.

Given FROPA is delayed until Tue morning, warm sector airmass
remains over the region yield a very warm night with lows only in
the upper 60s to lower 70s. Muggy as well with dew pts in the same
range, 65-70. Given anomalous moist airmass areas of fog are
possible.

Tuesday...

Cold front and associated scattered showers and T-storms may
continue to impact the south coast during the morning hours, however
good model consensus that the front continues moving south and
offshore by midday with column rapidly drying as seen by negative K
index values. This results in clouds giving way to sunshine and
turning less humid during the afternoon as post frontal airmass
overspreads the region. Not as hot as Monday but still warmer than
normal with 850 mb temps around +14C, supporting afternoon highs 80-
85 but dew pts falling from near 70 at sunrise into the 50s during
the afternoon. Thus very pleasant afternoon conditions.

Wednesday through Saturday...

Ensembles and deterministic guidance in good agreement Wed thru Sat
with dominant northern stream across southeast Canada into the
northeast. This keeps frontal boundary south of the region along
with summer heat and humidity. Thus mainly dry weather and
comfortable humidity should prevail. Ensembles and deterministic
guid sources have +12C to +14C temps at 850 mb over the region. This
will support highs 80-85 each day, about 5-10 warmer than normal for
this time of year. However with dew pts in the 50s humidity will be
comfortable and also support pleasant overnight lows of 55-60.

.AVIATION /18Z SUNDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/...

Mainly VFR, but isold to sct showers/t-storms likely developing
in the afternoon in the interior. Any stronger storms will be
accompanied by brief MVFR/IFR conditions along with heavy
downpours and gusty wind. SW gusts around 25 kt developing,
especially eastern MA and RI.

Monday night...Moderate confidence.
Scattered showers/t-storms with brief MVFR/IFR and heavy
downpours in the stronger storms, especially in the evening.
Otherwise, stratus and fog will likely develop over the islands
and south coastal regions with IFR/LIFR conditions.
