.SYNOPSIS...
Mainly dry weather through Friday along with a gradual warming trend
each day. A warm front approaching from the south may bring some
showers Saturday, especially south of the Mass Pike. Mainly dry and
seasonable conditions return Sunday into early next week.

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM THIS MORNING/...

Radiational cooling continues across the Cape and Islands as
high pressure sits over them. This has resulted in clear skies
and lights winds dropping temps down into the mid 40s. Elsewhere
return flow from high pressure has advected enough moisture for
stratus to develop and move across RI and southeast MA. As the
high continues to build this stratus will continue to push
westward which could impact western CT and up into Worcester.

Aside from the clouds, overall forecast remains on track with
dry weather. Radiational fog cannot be ruled out across the CT
river Valley between 09-10z.

.SHORT TERM /6 AM THIS MORNING THROUGH 6 PM FRIDAY/...
Thursday...

Another short wave approaches the region in the northwest flow
aloft. However mid level moisture is limited so any shower risk will
be isolated and confined to northern and northwest MA where best mid
level moisture tracks. Elsewhere dry weather should prevail. Weak
low level warm advection via SSW winds will yield milder temps Thu
with highs climbing to 70-75, 60s along the south coast.

Thursday night...

Dry cold front enters the region with little fanfare. Seasonably
mild with lows in the 50s.

.LONG TERM /FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
Highlights...

Overview...
Development of a strong Rex Block through the long term leads
to deepening trof across the NE through early next week. Its not
until the W trof attendant to the block is able to undercut the
ridge by early next week that there is a suggestion of a
breakdown in the synoptic pattern. As expected, both
deterministic and ensemble guidance is very spread from Tue
onward, as they typically do not handle pattern breaks in the
long term well. Given this fact, and the fact that ensembles
have been most consistent through the mid term thus far, will
add most weight to them for this update.

Fri and Fri night...
Dry wx with weak high pres shifting E. H85 temps warm to nearly
+12C, and with full mixing this should allow interior locations
to reach the low-mid 80s, likely the warmest day of the period.
Weak sfc gradient suggest risk for some sea breeze development
along coastlines.

Sat...
Guidance is now seeming to converge on a solution for the
weekend. Ensembles generally suggest that a warm front stalls
mainly to the SW, not allowing S New England into the warm
sector. Probs of QPF greater than 0.25 are quite low, and
confined mainly to S coastal areas. This is supported by low
PWATs as well, mainly at or below 1.00, which probs also
support. Given this setup, any upstream MCS development would
likely follow the gradient of moisture and better
destabilization in the warm sector to the S, just clipping
portions of S New England. Will follow suit with mainly chance
POPs across CT/RI and SE MA, but this is a case where most of
the moisture/energy could ultimately be usurped with little to
no impact on S New England. Highs will be dictated by cloud
cover and rainfall, coolest closer to the S where both more
cloud and a higher risk for rain is expected. However, mid lvl
temps still support seasonable highs nearing the mid 70s.

Sun into Tue...
Although digging wave continues, the result is mainly the same
as drier air is advected from the NW along with 1025hPa high
pres settling across the region. H85 temps hover near +10C most
of the period, which supports seasonably temps through the
period. Cold H5 temps between -15C and -20C suggest some CU
development, but moisture is limited within the core of the mean
trof.

Mid next week...
Very uncertain as solutions diverge. However, if the pattern
does break down as deterministic and some ensemble guidance
advertise, a trend toward wetter and unsettled conditions are
favored.

.AVIATION /06Z THURSDAY THROUGH MONDAY/...
Forecaster Confidence Levels...

Low - less than 30 percent.
Moderate - 30 to 60 percent.
High - greater than 60 percent.

Short Term /through Friday/...Moderate confidence.

Before 12z...Mainly VFR for the terminals. MVFR cigs in stratus
will continue to impact RI terminals and western CT and ORH by
morning.

Today into Friday...

Improvement to VFR today with sct 040-060 kft deck. Cannot rule
out a stray showers across western MA but low confidence.
Passing cold front by the afternoon will switch southerly winds
to the west. Winds will increase ahead of the front with gusts
between 15-20 kts, with 25 kts near the MA coastline.

Winds die down after midnight with mainly VFR conditions for the
area. Still have to watch for radiational fog for the CT river
valley. VFR on Friday with a low risk for sea breezes.

KBOS Terminal...High confidence in TAF. Low risk for a 1 kft
deck tonight. Little impact to the morning push.

KBDL Terminal...High confidence in TAF.

Outlook /Friday Night through Monday/...

Friday Night: Mainly VFR. Breezy.

Saturday: Mainly VFR, with areas MVFR possible. Slight chance
SHRA, best chance at terminals south of the Mass Pike.

Saturday Night: Mainly VFR, with local MVFR possible. Slight
chance SHRA, best chance at terminals south of the Mass Pike.

Sunday through Monday: VFR.

Leftover east swells of 3-6 feet continue to impact the eastern MA
waters so SCA remains in effect until 7 pm. Otherwise light winds
with high pressure over the waters and dry weather along with good
vsby prevailing. Could be some patchy fog later tonight across the
waters around and southeast of the islands.

Thursday...

Weak cold front approaches from the northwest. Winds become SSW and
up to 20 kt across the northern MA waters. Dry weather and good vsby
prevail. Possibly some patchy fog at sunrise near the islands and
Cape Cod.

Thursday night...

Weak/dry cold front enters the waters with light SSW winds
continuing. Good vsby should continue.
