The Connecticut River At Hartford.
* from Sunday morning until further notice...or until the warning is
cancelled.
* At 9:30 PM Saturday the stage was 13.4 feet.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will rise above flood stage by tomorrow
morning and continue to rise to near 18.5 feet by Monday morning.
* Impact...At 19.0 feet...Flooding of low lying areas below Hartford
is expected, especially in areas that are outside of levee
protection. Flooding also affects low lying areas upstream of
Hartford, including a portion of Windsor where the Farmington River
empties into the Connecticut River. Further downstream flooding
closes most of Meadow Road, Route 17A, in Portland. Flooding
impacts the Middletown Marina and Meadow Farms. In Cromwell,
portions of River Road will be closed. Flooding continues along the
river through Essex.

.SYNOPSIS...
Strong winds will persist through the evening, weakening as high
pressure moves in late and continues into Sunday. A couple low
pressure systems will bring periods of wet weather to the region
Monday afternoon into Tuesday night. High pressure will follow
and bring dry weather for Wednesday and Thursday. Another low
pressure system will likely bring more rain to the region
sometime Friday, which may even linger into Saturday.

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM SUNDAY MORNING/...
** Strong Winds Continue This Evening **
Final arctic influenced cold front has just moved into Cape Cod
Bay, and will be offshore by about 4PM local. Behind it already
noting pressure rises of roughly 2mb/hr across W MA/CT and obs
have responded. Even ASOS, has already noted several spots with
sustained winds exceeding 30 kt and gusts to near 50 kt, which
will continue to increase as the pres rise/fall couplet
continues to progress E this evening. Given this is a little bit
slower than initial forecast/progs, will extend wind headlines
as they stand through 00Z (8PM local) to account for the slower
diurnal decoupling given the very strong height rises which will
likely counter this trend.
Otherwise, CAA and dry entrainment already in full swing. Only
some typically post frontal CAA CU across the region at this
point, which should continue to diminish in coverage as drier
air continues to filter in and the top of the mixed layer begins
to mix out the moist dwpts.
Trend will be toward colder than normal temps in spite of the
continued pres gradient and W flow. Will likely see early AM
temps drop into the mid 30s.

.SHORT TERM /6 AM SUNDAY MORNING THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT/...
Sun...
By daylight Sun expecting the core of 1030+ high pres to be in
place across the region, which will lead to a mainly sunny day
thanks to increased subsidence. Flow will be much weaker by this
time. H92 temps hover around +2C which will still allow for some
temps around 50 to be observed in the typically warmer
locations.
Sun night...
High pres shifts E but noting mass fields suggest strong
inverted ridging signal during the overnight hours. This will
limit precip risks through 12Z Mon and likely only allow gradual
moisture loading of the column from the top down, yielding only
an increase in high then mid clouds during the early morning
hours. Evening, with light winds and clearing, expect a pretty
rapid diurnal temp drop thanks to radiational cooling until its
capped by the increasing cloud cover. Low to mid 30s are favored
for mins.

Details...
A rather active weather pattern continues across southern New
England as pieces of upper level energy continue dig to our west.
An initial weak coastal wave of low pressure looks to bring a period
of rain to the region sometime Monday afternoon and evening. High
pressure over the Canadian Maritimes will result in onshore flow and
cool temperatures too. Highs on Mon will probably be mainly in the
upper 40s to the lower 50s.
We probably will see the steady rain taper off sometime later Monday
night...but scattered light showers and drizzle may linger. A
stronger low pressure system will pass to our northwest sometime
Tue...bringing another slug of rain to the region later Tue into Tue
night. Not sure how fast and if all locations will warm
sector...but temps may eventually rise into the 60s for some
locations later Tue or Tue night.
Dry weather likely follows Wed and Thu as a weak ridge of high
pressure builds across the region. Highs on Wed probably still
break 60 across many locations given the mild start...but it will be
cooler on Thu with highs mainly in the 50s. Another low pressure
system will likely bring more rain to the region sometime
Friday...perhaps lingering into Sat but confidence in
timing/duration is low.
