Low clouds and fog are still in place over Massachusetts and Rhode
Island. Dense fog lingered at Worcester Airport at 10 AM as well
as at North Central Airport at 10 AM. Visibility at all other 
areas had improved to between 1 and 3 miles. Patches of poor
visibility may continue through midday. 

Travelers should continue to allow extra time to reach their 
destinations.

Another low pressure will bring a soaking rain to the region
Monday afternoon into early Tuesday, with any threat of wet snow
confined to the highest terrain. There may also be a period of
strong winds along the coast Monday night into early Tuesday.
Mid-upper level low lingers Tuesday through Wednesday with scattered
shower activity and breezy W winds. High pressure and drier weather
for Thursday through Saturday. Stormy pattern returns Sunday into
early next week. Milder and faster weather pattern, expecting
quick bouts of rainfall to add to our already soaked region.

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM THIS MORNING/...
10 pm update...

Drizzle and low clouds continue, especially over eastern
MA...regions of fog beginning to develop as well. Otherwise a
quiet night expected ahead of the next system for
Monday...forecast on track.

Previous Discussion...

Low, drizzly conditions overnight. Localized convergence across
E coastal MA of a moist boundary layer profile. The slight amount
of ascent yielding patchy drizzle across the region through this
evening, a lull potentially overnight, but then with E onshore
flow, albeit light, developing, with upslope along the terrain,
drizzle likely to re-emerge. Throughout, low clouds hang as there
is hardly opportunity between the two storms for conditions to
improve beneath the subtle rising heights in-between.

Given recent antecedent rains, higher dewpoints, it is more than
likely that temperatures where low clouds and drizzle reside will
remain fairly stable, only falling slightly. However more to the
W, slightly drier, lighter winds, less upslope and/or localized
convergence, a bit more opportunity for cooling conditions towards
the dewpoint. May see some patchy fog issues out that way as well.

Lows around the mid 30s.

.SHORT TERM /6 AM THIS MORNING THROUGH 6 PM TUESDAY/...
Looking for the next low pressure to impact our region late Monday
into Tuesday. Strong forcing and high moisture content. Looking
at another soaking rain of about 1-1.5 inches, with locally higher
amounts. Greatest rainfall amounts should be across interior S
New England.

There is also a potent low level jet on the E side of this low
pressure. Have moderate confidence in the need for another Wind
Advisory for the Cape and Islands, and perhaps Cape Ann, too.
Slightly less confidence for other portions of the MA coast.
With most of the leaves likely off the trees by now, not
expecting a tremendous impact. However, there could be some
minor tree damage, which may lead to isolated power outages.

This low pressure moves into northern New England Tuesday, allowing
our region to start to dry out. Greatest risk for rain showers on
Tuesday will be north of the MA Pike.

Near to slightly above normal temperatures expected through this
period.

Presently, -NAO / N Atlantic +H5 height anomaly has yielded upstream
buckled pattern especially with preferred Eastern N America H5 trof.
Beneath which, continual SW-NE storm development downshear of +PNA /
W CONUS H5 ridge. Stratospheric vortex stretched S through C Canada,
an opportunistic cross-polar flow amplified through any PV anomalies
and trop-folds behind and through the H5 preferred trof, promoting
further sub-tropical digging and tighter baroclinicity, a stronger
fetch of deeper moisture N, convergently focused, ascending beneath
favorable dynamics and diffluence. Subsequent excessive rainfall, it
has been a very wet month of November.

But change is coming. Progressive N Pacific pattern, accompanying H3
jet streak. Split-flow in advance pushing E, an usherance of warmer
air into Canada emphasized via +H85 temperature anomalies whether it
be ahead of Gulf of AK or Rocky Mountain lee cyclones, advance mild
SW fetch / S-stream energy emphasis. Over time, Arctic air deflects
E coinciding with a stratospheric vortex shift towards N Europe. The
NAO becoming positive as an Icelandic low becomes dominant, better
area for PV anomalies / trop-folds develops over the Davis Straight
and N Atlantic. This pattern shift going into December.

An active pattern persists. Continual Pacific-origin energy sweeps E
obtaining cyclonic curvature E of the Rockies. However, NW Atlantic
ridge builds given a prolonging persistence of milder SW flow, less
deep, colder air to work with per discussion above, and a wide-open
N Atlantic with +NAO. Overall, with any storms, inside-runners, wet
outcomes for our area, no snow to speak of unless storms manifest
there own cold, however much less Arctic air in advance promoting
wet-bulb processes to below-freezing. Fast-moving, the hope is that
rainfall amounts will hold below an inch limiting additions to an
already soaked region with rainfall amounts so far for November of
around 2 to 3 times above that which normally is observed.

Tuesday night through Wednesday night...

Scattered rain / snow showers. Impact majority over the Berkshires
and perhaps the Worcester Hills with potential accumulating snows,
reduced visibility. Breezy W winds. Until the mid-upper level low
lifts out, likely ascent aided by terrain upon continental-Arctic
moist airmass. Convectively driven by steep lapse rates nearly up
around H4 given cold air advection throughout, will easily see the
mix-down of breezy W winds around 25 mph. Perhaps not as cold as the
low occludes aloft, warmer air wrapping in, steer away from coldest
forecast guidance, hold it a bit milder closer to average for late
November.

Thursday through Saturday...

Keeping it mostly dry. Certainly for Thursday and Friday, actually
lean milder with temperatures given the airmass aloft hardly Arctic.
Plenty of sunshine along with it, keep it close to average highs for
late November. 25.12z GFS suggesting wet-weather outcomes around
Friday night. Hesitant as dry air lingers and heights are rising out
ahead of a late weekend / early week storm. Mid to high cloud with
ascent along isentropes but holding back from chance PoPs. Feel high
pressure will win out.

Sunday onward...

Series of inside-runner lows. Milder, faster, looking at periods of
rain, brief across the area per evolving progressive storm pattern.
Uncertain exact timing and impacts, but consistent signals, rainfall
will only add to an already soaked region. Also uncertain, wintry
weather outcomes. Thermal fields pretty mild, even in advance, maybe
perhaps some cold can manifest per wet-bulbing to yield wet snow but
a marginal setup, if any impacts would be across the high terrain,
likely hard to come by given on the cusp of freezing.

Widespread MVFR-IFR with patchy BR. Will lower with onset of -RA
after 16-18Z becoming RA with embedded +RA late. Increasing E
wind 10 to 15 kts with gust up to 35 kts.

Monday night...
Widespread IFR with -RA/RA, embedded +RA. Wet SN possible for
the Berkshires. Height of E winds 25 to 30 kts with highest
gusts along the shoreline upwards of around 50 kts. Will see
winds taper shortly after 07Z then shift out of the W towards
morning. By then, could begin to see an improving trend towards
VFR.

along the S/SE coast. VSBYs quickly improving as CIGs rise
