This will keep skies clear tonight and Saturday. Lows will be mild tonight with mid 20s to mid 30s expected across northeast Colorado. Highs on Saturday will be very warm for this time of year with upper 60s to lower 70s over northeast Colorado. It will become breezy in areas again Saturday, though appears speeds will be a little less than today. Strongest winds and lowest relative humidities are expected to be found along and south of I-70 where a Red Flag Warning is in effect for Saturday afternoon. .LONG TERM...(Saturday night through Friday) Issued at 220 PM MST Fri Mar 2 2018 Saturday night and Sunday, a strong and mostly dry southwesterly flow aloft will remain over the cwa. A broad trough over the Pacific Northwest and Northern Rockies at 00z Sunday, will shift eastward Saturday night with its axis over central ID/northern UT by 12z Sunday. Not much in the way of moisture intruding into northwestern CO until after 12z Sunday. On Sunday, the trough will lift northeast into WY with the axis moving across CO. Weak to moderate QG ascent will move across northern CO sunday. The northeast plains will remain dry with gusty southerly winds ahead of an approaching cold front. Not as warm but still fairly mild. Overall expect a period of light to moderate snowfall in the north central mountains Sunday afternoon through Sunday night. No highlights at this time, with snowfall in 3 to 7 inch range at that time, highest over west facing slopes. Best period will be between 18z Sunday and 06z Monday. The cold front is progged to move across the northeast plains after 00Z Monday. Weak qg ascent and the passage of the front itself will produce limited shower coverage along the northern border areas late Sunday afternoon and evening. Strong downward qg will be developing late Sunday night through Monday. Snow will decrease over the mountains but linger along the west facing slopes from orographic forcing. Across the northeast plains, strong downslope with bora winds developing. A strong sfc pressure gradient will develop over the northeast plains and a sfc low intensifies over the northern Great Plains.
