.Heavy rainfall across northern Mississippi and additional rainfall expected this weekend will produce some flooding on the upper Tombigbee River Basin 
and a flood warning is now in effect for the Bevill Lock and Dam.

.SHORT TERM...
Through Tonight.

Upper level ridge has weakened and shift southward today as a
shortwave begins to cross the Four Corners region. Expect the
moisture plume that as remained to our west to begin shifting
eastward tonight, signaling a pattern change and more moist
pattern for Central Alabama for the next several days.

For tonight, afternoon convection across the south will gradually
dissipate with loss of heating. A weak impulse rotating northward
through MS, on the eastern edge of deeper layer moisture, is
producing an area of rain this afternoon. This activity is
expected to continue northward and gradually turn to the
northeastward later tonight. This will bring increased rain
chances to generally locations across the north and west
overnight. Lows remain rather muggy, with temperatures in the
upper 50s to mid 60s.

.LONG TERM...
Saturday through Thursday.

A shortwave trough swinging into the Four Corners region will lead
to a developing storm system to our west on Saturday. Moisture
quality will be highest across our western areas through the
afternoon and will overlap with slight cooler temperatures aloft.
This is where scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected
through the afternoon, mainly as a result of daytime heating.

A surface low is expected to deepen as it moves from Arkansas
toward the Great Lakes region Saturday afternoon into Saturday
night. As storm approach from the west, they should encounter a
less favorable environment. SBCAPE should generally be 500 J/kg or
less in our northwestern areas, a slight downward trend from 24
hours ago. The departure of the best upper-level support also
indicates storms should pose less of a severe threat as they
arrive. We will maintain a low confidence risk of damaging winds
or brief tornadoes mainly along and northwest of I-59, where
strong low-level shear is expected.

The front is expected to lose forward speed and become nearly
stationary on Sunday, leading to continued high rain chances. An
approaching shortwave may cause the front to move back northward
Sunday night, potentially resulting in another round of strong to
severe storms. The GFS and ECMWF are still not in good agreement,
but the ECMWF and EPS ensemble members continue to support a
resurgence of the warm sector south and east of I-59. A low-level
jet of 40-45kt would support an isolated damaging wind or tornado
threat, but confidence is too low to introduce this potential into
the HWO for Sunday night.

The front and associated rain should finally move out by Monday
afternoon with a brief dry period expected on Tuesday between
weather systems. Models are in decent agreement and indicate a
low-amplitude trough developing to our west beginning Tuesday
night. This should cause increasing rain chances as a warm front
moves northward across the area. Rich low-level moisture is
expected to surge inland on Wednesday in the warm sector of the
approaching storm system. Models are not showing much instability
Wednesday into Thursday due to somewhat warm temperatures aloft,
but this seems somewhat unreasonable with dewpoints in the mid to
upper 60s underneath nearly westerly (typically cooler) 500mb
flow. The threat for severe storms will be watched closely since
models indicate very strong wind fields overspreading the region.

.AVIATION...
00Z TAF Discussion.

It appears that VFR conditions will be present much of the
overnight period. Around sunrise, ceiling/vis restrictions will
develop especially at MGM/TOI/TCL where IFR conditions look
likely. The remaining sites will experience MVFR ceilings and no
fog. Ceilings rise and by 18z should be VFR at all locations.
Winds will generally be southerly around 5kts overnight but may be
light and variable at times. Southerly winds continue Saturday
8-13kts and may be gusty at times.

A few showers were located near MGM/TOI at this writing. These
showers where light and the duration should remain relatively
short. An upper level impulse will move northeastward over
northwest Alabama overnight and will produce rain chances. At this
time, only mentioned TCL with VCSH with lesser chances elsewhere.
Will have to monitor this activity this evening for possible
expansion overnight. Isentropic lift around the 295k surface will
produce low clouds especially west and south. It appears that
TCL/EET/MGM will be impacted by 11-12z and then the moisture
spreads northeast. Currently going with the idea that these clouds
rise a bit before impacted other terminals.

A stronger upper impulse will push a cold front our way Saturday
night into Sunday. Expect ceiling/vis restrictions and
showers/thunderstorms at least north.

morning with the higher potential across our southern counties.
High RH values will persist through Monday with increasing rain
chances tomorrow through Monday. There are no fire weather
