The National Weather Service in Wakefield has issued a Coastal
Flood Advisory, which is in effect until 1 AM EDT Sunday.
* LOCATION...Virginia Northern Neck.
* TIMING...This evenings high tide cycle.
* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Shallow flooding is expected in the most
vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline resulting
in a low threat of property damage. Expect up to one foot of
water above ground level in low lying, vulnerable areas. Some
roads and low lying property including parking lots, parks and
lawns near the waterfront will experience shallow flooding.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Coastal Flood Advisory means that onshore winds...wave action
and/or tides will combine to create flooding of low areas along
the shore...and near tidal rivers and creeks. Be prepared for the
possibility of road closures and minor flooding of properties. If
travel is necessary...do not attempt to drive through water of
unknown depth.

* TIMING...Saturday evenings high tide cycle.
* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Shallow flooding is expected in the
most vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline
resulting in a low threat of property damage. Expect up to one
foot of water above ground level in low lying, vulnerable
areas. Some roads and low lying property including parking
lots, parks and lawns near the waterfront will experience
shallow flooding.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Coastal Flood Advisory means that onshore winds...wave action
and/or tides will combine to create flooding of low areas along
the shore...and near tidal rivers and creeks. Be prepared for the
possibility of road closures and minor flooding of properties. If

...COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 AM EDT
TUESDAY...
* LOCATION...Along the Potomac River
* TIMING...A few hours either side of high tide this evening.
* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS... Shallow flooding is expected in the
most vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline
resulting in a low threat of property damage. Expect up to one
foot of water above ground level in low lying, vulnerable
areas. Some roads and low lying property including parking
lots, parks and lawns near the waterfront will experience
shallow flooding.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Coastal Flood Advisory means that onshore winds...wave action
and/or tides will combine to create flooding of low areas along
the shore...and near tidal rivers and creeks. Be prepared for the
possibility of road closures and minor flooding of properties. If
travel is necessary...do not attempt to drive through water of
unknown depth.

.SYNOPSIS...
Low pressure will track northeast along the Mid Atlantic coast
tonight and Saturday, bringing increasing chances for rain. An
unsettled pattern is then expected to persist through at least
the middle of next week.

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM SATURDAY MORNING/...
As of 350 PM EDT Friday...
Latest sfc analysis shows sfc high pressure off the NE/Mid Atlc
coast with 1013 mb low pressure developing along a stalled
frontal boundary near the SE coast. Aloft, an upr-level trough
is deepening over the eastern CONUS. The sfc low will slide NE
along the coast tonight, leading to increasing clouds and
chances for rain. The greatest chances for rain (70% PoPs) will
be over the eastern half of the fa where the greatest Atlantic
moisture feed will reside. 50-60% PoPS elsewhere, most likely
towards the morning hours. Otws, onshore wind with low temps
mainly in the upr 60s to lwr 70s.

.SHORT TERM /6 AM SATURDAY MORNING THROUGH MONDAY/...
As of 350 PM EDT Friday...
Unsettled weather will be the norm through the short term
period. Although it will not rain at all times, presence of an
upr-level trough stationed over the eastern CONUS will lead to
frequent chances for rain, moderate to heavy at times. For Sat,
aforementioned sfc low tracks NE along the coast through the
day, with the greatest heavy rain potential over NE areas where
at least one inch of rain is expected. High temps range from
the mid/upr 70s northern areas to the low/mid 80s southern
areas.
Again, Sun and Mon look wet with the upr-level low centered
west of the fa and moisture streaming in from the south.
Although the best chances for rain will be during the
aftn/evening hours (60-70%) PoPs, there are also good chances
of pcpn during the mornings. High temps in the low/mid 80s both
days.

.LONG TERM /MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY/...
As of 350 PM EDT Friday...
There is good agreement among global models for a very wet pattern
continuing through the end of next week. With a strong ridge over
the central and southern Plains, and another over the Atlantic, we
will be wedged in between the two. This will allow for an upper
level trough to more or less park itself atop the eastern U.S. and
provide us with daily rain chances. Tuesday, kept likely PoPs
focused across the western and extreme northwestern CWA. There is
still some uncertainty as to where the heaviest bands of rain will
set up, but enough confidence to have at least mid-high chance PoPs
all the way east to the coast on Tuesday. Expect daytime rain/tstm
chances to be higher than those during the nighttime, thanks to
afternoon surface heating. With that being said, the overall
synoptic setup will likely result in more nocturnal rains than what
we typically see with summertime diurnal tstm trends.
Wednesday, showers and thunderstorms look to become more widespread,
so brought likely PoPs further east between the I-95 corridor and
the coast. Thursday will again see likely PoPs during the afternoon
stretching from MD southwestward towards the central and western
CWA...with a little lower chance PoPs down across SE VA/NE NC.
Confidence decreases slightly in rain timing/placement Friday and
Saturday, but carried slight chance PoPs, at the very least, into
Saturday AM. The new 12z EURO, in comparison to the 00z run, is
wetter...falling in line with the GFS. It appears the synoptic flow
will flatten out and become more zonal, sending impulses of energy W
to E across the area into next weekend. Not to mention the
aforementioned high pressure over the Atlantic, which does not hint
at moving much until next Sunday, at the very earliest. While the
extended forecast does not imply "all day" rainfall, each day next
week will feature shower and thunderstorm chances to some varying
degree. In other words, keep the umbrella close by.
Temperatures will remain in the mid to upper 80s Tue-Fri, due in
part to cloud cover. Overnight lows in the low to mid 70s are also
expected.

.AVIATION /20Z FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
As of 130 PM EDT Friday...
VFR to start off the 18Z TAF period with onshore winds, high
pressure offshore and low pressure developing near the SE coast.
The low slides up the Carolina coast while strengthening
tonight, leading to lowering cigs and increasing rain chances.
For now, kept any mention of rain until after 00Z at KECG and
03-04Z at KORF/KPHF. Rain starts later for the other TAF sites.
Could be some low vsbys in heavier showers as well. For cigs,
expecting mainly MVFR with areas of IFR psbl, but not confident
enough to include IFR this far out in the TAFs attm. Increasing
moisture/pcpn chcs continue into Sat aftn at all TAF sites (with
lower cigs and vsbys), as low pressure tracks nwrd along or
just off the Mid Atlc coast. Best chcs for widespread showers
and possible tstms will be mainly near the coast, but SCTD
showers and an isolated tstm will be possible area-wide. An
unsettled pattern looks to persist Sun-Tue with SCTD to numerous
showers/tstms expected (highest coverage focusing in the
aftn/evening).

.MARINE...
As of 350 PM EDT Friday...
High pressure will continue to slide off the New England coast this
evening while low pressure develops south of the area near the
Georgia coast. This low pressure system will move along the Mid-
Atlantic coast tonight through tomorrow. Winds become southeast and
ramp up to 10 to 20 knots later this evening and overnight. As a
result, a Small Craft Advisory goes into effect for the Lower Bay
beginning at 1 AM EDT and lasting into Saturday afternoon.
East/southeast winds will continue to increase Saturday morning
through afternoon as the low slides along the Mid-Atlantic coast,
winds will generally range from 15 to 25 knots with the highest
winds across the northern ocean zones. Small Craft Advisories are in
effect for all remaining coastal and Bay zones through the day on
Saturday. A few isolated gusts to 35 knots will also be possible
across the northern ocean zones primarily Saturday afternoon into
Saturday evening. Seas generally range from 2 to 3 feet this
afternoon but will build to 4 to 8 feet during the day on Saturday
due to the strong easterly fetch. Waves will range from 2 to 4 feet
in the Bay during the day on Saturday.
Low pressure pulls away from the region Saturday night leading to a
slight diminishing trend in winds. Persistent southerly to
southeasterly flow develops early next week as a surface low settles
over the Tennessee River Valley and high pressure develops over the
Atlantic. Winds and seas will likely remain elevated and additional
Small Craft Advisories will likely be needed Sunday night through
early next week.
