Weak low pressure near Dixon Entrance dissipates Monday morning.
Weak high pressure will persist over the eastern and central
Gulf Monday night and Tuesday. The next low will approach Haida
Gwaii from the southwest on Tuesday afternoon.

.SYNOPSIS...The main upper low center is off Haida Gwaii Sunday
evening with a persistent easterly flow aloft over the Panhandle
which becomes NE over Yakutat. Numerous showers are to the E and N
of our area with lots of lightning in the Yukon. Moisture
continues over the southern Panhandle for plenty of showers there
while the northern Panhandle had a pretty nice day with isolated
showers over the mountains. The offshore flow lower down is
opposed to thermal forcing as a sea breeze so the result was not
much wind.

&&

.SHORT TERM...Some temps climbed into the lower 60s today and a
few spots that didn't get showers had RH values down to 40-50%.
On the other hand a few places in the S Panhandle got briefly
soaked. Looking at visible satellite, there are several surface
low centers under the main upper low which will all weaken tonight
in the vicinity of Dixon Entrance. All 03/12Z ops models agree on
moisture and another round of widespread showers moving over the
entire Panhandle tonight and persisting on Monday. You sure can
see this coming on the IR satellite imagery over B.C. There will
still be breaks between the showers but wetness is the theme. We
decided to put fog in some of the forecasts in the south later on
that will be caused by some breaks in the clouds with lots of
available moisture and light winds.

.LONG TERM.../ Tuesday to Sunday as of 10 pm Saturday / Part of
the upper level support from the strong low over the western
Bering Sea this weekend will move from the Bering Sea across the
western gulf and into the central gulf starting later portion of
Tuesday and by the end of the week the residual part of said
Bering low will be pulled into the gulf into the broad closed
circulation over the Gulf of Alaska.

Prior to Thursday the main flow pattern aloft is south of the
gulf into the southern British Columbia coast. Starting late
Wednesday the flow pattern is turning more northward to be along
the SE panhandle or over it into Canada.

An easterly flow pattern Tuesday will have been shifted northward
to the Lynn Canal area or slightly further north. Think
precipitation will have a difficult time making it over the coast
range. Meanwhile the first rain band will be lifting north into
the southern panhandle by Wednesday, and rain should be all the
way along the panhandle by Thursday.

For changes used WPC in the extended and a blend of GFS/EC for
the Tuesday forecast on the winds and pressure. Forecast
confidence is about average.

.AVIATION...Some patches of fog will re-form for MVFR conditions
in the southern terminals early in the morning. Also in heavier
showers there has been been brief IMC.

&&

.MARINE...Not expecting any wind above 15 kts and most areas will
be calm overnight. There may be some fog on the waters along with
the showers. Swells have laid-down along the outer coast. These
are spread out from 10 to 20 seconds but not more than 3 FT.

&&

.FIRE WEATHER...Got a little dry in the north with sunny breaks
this afternoon, but the winds have been variable as discussed
above. Tomorrow should be wetter.

.HYDROLOGY...Keeping an eye on Suicide Basin which is filling.
Snow melt has not cause any significant rises.
