VFR cigs and vsbys expected through 00Z. After sunset, MVFR cigs may
begin to settle in over the area with showers moving in from the
northwest in the last 6 hours of the TAF period. Winds will be
from the southwest at around 10-12 kts.

.PREV DISCUSSION [229 AM EST]...

.NEAR TERM [Through Today]...

An upper level low lies over the central Rockies with an associated
jet stretching from the southern Rockies into the central Plains. To
its east, we see mostly zonal flow aloft of the local area with weak
upper level ridging over the southeastern US. This pattern will
shift eastward today, with the low over the Rockies lifting into the
central Plains by this evening, developing our next cold front at
the lower levels. No rain is in the forecast for the day as the
system won't enter our area until tonight, but increasing cloud
cover is expected from west to east through the afternoon. Highs
today will be in the low to mid 70s.

.SHORT TERM [Tonight Through Friday]...

A cold front, currently across OK, will move through our forecast
area late tonight through early Thursday. There appears to be
enough deep layer moisture and Q-G forcing for numerous showers to
accompany this front, though the marginal thermodynamics and
forcing would suggest a low probability of thunderstorms. Fair
weather is expected as much cooler and drier air advects into the
region. High temperatures Thursday will range from lower 60s
around Dothan to mid 70s at Cross City, then only in the mid to
upper 50s Friday afternoon. Lows will be in the mid 50s to lower
60s ahead of the cold front Wednesday night, and in the mid 30s
(north) to lower 40s (south) Thursday night.

.LONG TERM [Friday Night Through Wednesday]...

A relatively deep, upper-level long wave trough will be the dominant
weather feature over much of the eastern CONUS through early next
week, with fair weather and seasonably cool temperatures across much
of our forecast area. The exception may be across north FL on
Sunday, where the NWP guidance shows some light QPF associated with
weak Q-G forcing and mid level frontogenesis. Frost and/or a
light freeze are possible in the normally colder interior
locations, with high temperatures only in the mid 50s to lower
60s. Milder temperatures are expected mid week.

.MARINE...

Light onshore winds this morning will increase to moderate to strong
levels later today and tonight ahead of an approaching cold front.
Winds and seas may approach advisory levels late tonight and early
Thursday. Moderate to occasionally strong northwest to north winds
are expected behind the cold front for the remainder of the work
week.

.FIRE WEATHER...

A quick cold front passage tonight and into tomorrow morning will
give the area a brief shot of rain. Relative humidity values will
remain above critical thresholds through the period. No hazardous
fire weather conditions are expected.

.HYDROLOGY...

QPF amounts are generally expected to be 0.25 inches or less, and
unlikely to significantly affect the local river systems. This will
be followed by a period of dry weather through at least early next
week. Many of the river forecast points in south GA, southeast AL,
and the FL Panhandle and Big Bend were in flood from the heavy rains
this past weekend. Most were in minor flood stage, though the
Ochlockonee River at Concord was straddling moderate levels. These
crest waves will continue to propagate downstream for the next
several days.
