  County in northern California...

* Until 415 PM PST Monday

* At 445 PM PST,  Officials now anticipate a failure of the 
  auxiliary spillway in 60 minutes. Residents of Oroville should 
  evacuate in a northward direction such as towards Chico. 

Other city's should follow the orders of their local law 
enforcement. Operation of the auxiliary spillway has lead to severe 
erosion that has lead to a failure of the structure. Failure of the 
auxiliary spillway structure will result in an uncontrolled release 
of flood waters from Lake Oroville.

Immediate evacuation from the low levels of Oroville areas 
downstream is ordered. From Oroville to Gridley...low level areas 
around the feather river will experience rapid river rises.

  This is not a Drill. This is not a Drill. Repeat this is not a 
drill.

* Locations impacted include...
  Oroville, Palermo, Gridley, Thermalito, South Oroville, Oroville
  Dam, Oroville East and Wyandotte.

Operation of the auxiliary spillway has lead to severe erosion that 
could lead to a failure a portion of the structure. Failure of the 
auxiliary spillway structure would result in an uncontrolled release 
of flood waters from Lake Oroville.

Only the auxiliary spillway of Oroville dam is considered to be 
under threat at this time.

Resisdents should follow evacuation instructions issued by local 
authorities.

The National Weather Service in Sacramento has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  The potential failure of a portion of the auxillary spillway of
  Oroville Dam in...
  South central Butte County in Northern California...

* Until 415 PM PST Tuesday

* The water level at Oroville Dam has decreased to below the 
  Auxilary Spillway and water is no longer flowing over the Auxilary 
  spillway. However, the Department of Water Resources continues to 
  monitor the situation closely.   

* The situation remains potentially dangerous and local evacuation 
  orders have not been lifted. Residents should follow evacuation 
  instructions issued by local authorities.

* Dam operators are continuing large controlled releases out of the 
  dam in order to lower lake levels. This will cause high river 
  levels downstream for the forseeable future.

...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING HAS BEEN CANCELLED FOR THE AUXILLARY 
SPILLWAY OF OROVILLE DAM IN SOUTH CENTRAL BUTTE
COUNTY...

The flash flood warning has been downgraded to a Flash Flood Watch. 

Officials managing the Auxillary Spillway at Oroville Dam have 
indicated that the situation has stabalized sufficiently to lift 
mandatory evacuation orders. All residents of the area are advised 
to remain vigilant and prepared as conditions can rapidly change. 

A flash flood watch will remain in effect until further notice. A 
watch means that conditions warrant close monitoring but an 
immediate threat does not exist at this time.

.Synopsis...
Drier weather continues through Tuesday. Yet another round of wet
weather arrives Wednesday with several rounds continuing through
next weekend.

.Discussion (Tonight through Wednesday Night)...
A much needed break from the rain will continue through Tuesday.
High pressure over the region will allow Valley temperatures to
warm into the 60s each day through Tuesday and into the 40s and
50s across the mountains. Nevertheless, high water issues will
remain a problem for some areas, so the flood warning continues
into Monday. Hillsides remain water logged and will take several
days to dry out and become more stable, just in time for more
rain.

High clouds will spread over the region in varying amounts the
next few days. Some patches of fog may develop the next couple of
mornings in the Southern Sacramento and Northern San Joaquin
Valleys and maybe locally dense near water ways.

A warm front moves into parts of Northern California late Tuesday
night and Wednesday. Precipitation amounts with the warm front
will be light and snow levels will start out high between 8000 and
9000 ft. The cold frontal part of the system may begin to spread
inland late Wednesday night.

.EXTENDED DISCUSSION (Thursday THROUGH Sunday)

Long term models continue to advertise an active pattern across
interior NorCal during the extended period. A Pacific front is
progged to move on Thursday bringing widespread precipitation.
Early QPF amounts show generally 0.50"-2" across the Valley and
1"-3" over the mountains through Thursday evening. Snow levels
should start out above pass levels on Thursday but cold air behind
the front could drop snow levels to around 4-5K ft late this
week. Gusty southerly winds could be possible with this system.

Brief lull in precipitation activity before the next upper system
tracks south of our CWA Friday into Saturday. Unsettled pattern
will likely continue through at least early next week. However,
details of timing and QPF will need to be adjusted given that
model uncertainty is evident.

VFR conditions next 24 hrs with light winds across interior
NorCal. Possible MVFR conditions from KSMF southward near
sunrise due to mist or patchy fog.
