  Osage River near Schell City affecting Bates and Vernon Counties 
  Sac River near Caplinger Mills affecting Cedar County 
   
.Heavy rainfall from earlier this week will continue to keep streams
elevated above flood stage. Details for each location are included
below.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Do not drive through flowing water. Nearly half of all flood 
fatalities are vehicle related. As little as 6 inches of water may 
cause you to lose control of your vehicle. Two feet of water will 
carry most vehicles away.

* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 21.1 feet by 
  tomorrow morning.  The river will fall below flood stage Sunday 
  morning.
* Impact...At 20.5 feet...Flood waters begin to impact the steel 
  residential fence line at the gage site.

* Impact...At 21.0 feet...Minor flooding begins at the gage site and 
  mainly affects low lying areas along the river.

.SHORT TERM...(Today and tonight)
Issued at 211 AM CDT Fri May 5 2017

A few clouds linger over the eastern Ozarks this morning but the
good news is the last of the rain has finally exited the area.
High pressure will continue to move in to the region. Northerly winds
will be a little breezy today with a few gusts up to 30 mph
possible. High temperatures will climb into the upper 60s to
around 70. The weather story for today and the weekend will be
sunshine for everyone and dry weather!

.LONG TERM...(Saturday through Thursday)
Issued at 211 AM CDT Fri May 5 2017

Upper level ridging will take place over the Central U.S.
including the Missouri Ozarks this weekend. Winds will relax and
there will be plenty of sunshine. A weak backdoor frontal boundary
will skirt by our eastern Ozarks areas on Saturday afternoon but
no weather or impacts will come from it. High temperatures this
weekend will be fantastic in the middle to upper 70s.

Southerly winds return by Monday and a boost in temperatures for
early next week with highs back in the lower 80s. A weak mid level
impulse disturbance will just miss the area to the northeast
Monday afternoon. There could be a very low chance of a spotty
shower over the far eastern areas but it should not amount to
much.

The next weather system to watch will be a bigger storm system
developing over the southwestern U.S. by midweek and moving out
into the Central and Southern Plains on Wednesday. This system
will start bringing shower and storm chances to the area
Wednesday night into Thursday. This upper level storm system will
move right over the region on Thursday with cooler weather and
widespread rain. The weather pattern looks cooler with off and on
showers for the end of next week with a deep trough developing
over the Midwest.

VFR conditions will prevail through the next 24 hours across the
Missouri Ozarks. Mostly clear skies today through tomorrow.
Northerly winds will be breezy with some gusts up to 20 knots by
midday and this afternoon. Winds will relax by sunset this
evening.

DISCUSSION...

Residual flooding of main stem rivers will continue to occur
through the end of this week from the recent heavy rains.

Northerly winds may gusts up to 30 mph today.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday.

Residual flooding of main stem rivers may persist into Saturday.

Thunderstorm chances return by the middle or end of next week.
