1141 PM CDT Mon Jul 17 2017
.SHORT TERM...(This Evening through Tuesday)
Issued at 236 PM CDT Mon Jul 17 2017
Little change to the going forecast this afternoon, with
temperatures still expected to top out in the low to mid 90s. An
outside chance for a shower will continue through sunset across
the far eastern Ozarks, but for most, dry weather will prevail.
Scattered afternoon cu that has developed should dissipate quickly
with sunset.
Temperatures tonight will fall into the upper 60s and low 70s
under mostly clear skies.
Tomorrow looks similar to today, save for perhaps an extra degree
here and there on highs. Heat indices shouldn't be all that
terrible tomorrow, with values generally remaining around 100
degrees. A Heat Advisory or Warning is not currently anticipated
for Tuesday.
.LONG TERM...(Tuesday Night through Monday)
Issued at 236 PM CDT Mon Jul 17 2017
Wednesday through the weekend looks very warm, with highs
reaching the mid to upper 90s, and perhaps touching 100 degrees
across Central Missouri. Thursday through Sunday look especially
oppressive, as the upper level ridge appears to peak during this
time. Precipitation chances should basically be nil through the
rest of the week.
Excessive Heat Watch/Warning and Heat Advisories remain a
challenging call due to the influences of the higher terrain
associated with the Ozark Plateau, which tends to limit just how
much of the really high humidity makes it into the area. This
combined with the drying/mixing that tends to take place with very
warm temperatures will likely limit heat indices to just a couple
of degrees above the actual air temperature for a large chunk of
the area.
The highest dewpoints look to occur across Central Missouri, where
the Excessive Heat Watch is currently in effect. This Watch will
continue for now, and we would expect that should current forecast
conditions remain on track, it will eventually be upgraded to an
Excessive Heat Warning sometime tonight or tomorrow. Further
south, given that Heat Advisory levels will likely not be hit
until Thursday or Friday at the earliest, will not issue a Heat
Advisory at this time. One will eventually be needed, but likely
not for another 24-48 hours.

.AVIATION...(For the 06Z TAFS through 06Z Tuesday night)
Issued at 1139 PM CDT Mon Jul 17 2017
