Snow and wind is gradually diminishing across the area. The high
wind warning for the area will be allowed to expire on time at 2
pm. Snowfall amounts have varied widely from less than an inch to
reports over 4 inches further south from Kaycee into the southeast
part of the county.

.SHORT TERM...Today through Tuesday night

Imagery showing ridge across the eastern CONUS and a trof/closed low
over the PAC NW with WY stuck in the middle under swrly flow aloft.
Relatively strong embedded SW/jet currently moving through nrn
California and headed this direction. SFC has general high P across
the central and southern Rockies into the Great Basin with lower P
to the north and east. A few light showers/virga are occurring across
west central WY this morning.

Light snow showers expected across west central to northwestern WY at
the beginning of the forecast period. A weak SFC low will try to
quickly form over the Great Basin today with a (pseudo) warm front
extending from the low in nrn UT through ern ID and possibly
into/near nwrn WY. The strongest portion of the jet should arrive
this afternoon along with the better moisture. This will increase
snowfall rates from later this afternoon through the evening
period...picking up from between 4 to 8 inches over a 6 to 8 hr
period of time over the Teton and Gros Ventre mountains before
decreasing in intensity Monday morning. A few embedded thunder-snow
storms may be possible this afternoon with locally heavy snow
showers as MU CAPE exceeds 300 J/Kg during the warmest part of the
day. Heaviest snowfall across the Salts/Wyoming/western Wind River
ranges and the rest of southern Lincoln county will occur this
evening into the early morning hours. Winter WX Advisories are
currently in place across the western mountains and valleys except
for Yellowstone beginning at 11am this morning and continuing
through 6am Monday. Adding Sweetwater county into a WWA beginning
6pm tonight and going through 6am Monday morning for wind and snow
mixed...mostly impact based. As the upper trof axis and associated
SFC front moves through the FA Monday, upper flow becomes WNW
oriented with a link to modest EPAC moisture continuing to move into
wrn WY...resulting in light to occasionally moderate snowfall
lasting through the end of the forecast period. Possible extensions
to the current Advisory may be necessary for a few locations...or
just replaced by an SPS. Hard to tell ATTM as the next best upper
forcing will drift back northward and over the CWA Tuesday morning.

East of the Divide, the main name of the game will be WIND first
mixed with relatively light precip at times just ahead of and with
the passage of the upper trof and SFC front mainly Monday morning.
Current snowfall accumulation east of the Divide through the day
Monday looks to range from a trace to two inches with heaviest
amounts over the Big Horn Basin, Cody Foothills and across portions
of Johnson county. Otherwise, increasing gusty, strong at times,
south to southwest winds will begin again early this morning across
the Wind Corridor, continuing into this evening before decreasing a
bit overnight. Then winds look to increase once again Monday after
FROPA...continuing into Monday evening. A High Wind Warning is
currently in place until 10pm tonight for zones 19 and 20. Another
HWW or an extension of the current warning may be necessary through
the day Monday. Will continue to monitor at this point.

.LONG TERM...WEDNESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY

Synopsis...Milder westerly flow will prevail through the
extended period.  This pattern will bring chances precipitation to
the western mountains, with rain and snow in the western valleys.
Generally mild and breezy to windy conditions will prevail across
central and southern Wyoming.

Discussion...Synoptic pattern on Wednesday morning begins with a Rex
Block over the east central Pacific into the Bering Sea with upper
lows downstream over the west coast of Canada and the southern
Hudson Bay.  Broad zonal flow lies to the south of these two lows
across the northern tier of the U.S.  Medium-range models continue
to show significant spread on how this pattern will evolve late in
the week with main differences involving progression of upper low
along the British Columbia coast.  GFS drops swings a good chunk of
this system's energy across the Rockies next weekend while the ECMWF
mostly shears the system out along the U.S./Canadian border, keeping
Wyoming under the influence of mild Pacific westerly flow.  Forecast
leans toward the ECWMF that shows less drastic changes to the
synoptic pattern, and less drastic changes to the extended
forecast package.

Fast zonal flow will keep chances of snow, mixed with rain at times
in the valleys, across the west Wednesday and Thursday with mild and
breezy to windy conditions across the central and south.  Polar
front to our north may dip down across the north and east Thursday
night and Friday, a bit faster for ECMWF than 24 hours ago,
spreading some rain and snow showers across the north central with a
slight cool down on Friday. This quasi-stationary frontal
boundary should lie near the Wyoming/Montana border next weekend
with westerly flow keeping chances of snow across the west,
breezy/windy and mild conditions across central and southern
Wyoming.

.AVIATION.../18Z ISSUANCE/

WEST OF THE DIVIDE...KBPI/KJAC/KPNA/KRKS ROUTES

Cold front progressing east across Idaho late Sunday morning with
band of precipitation along the boundary. This feature still on
course to reach western Wyoming late this afternoon and early this
evening. Gusty south wind should increase later this afternoon in
advance of the front. Favorable jet position should enhance snow
toward 00Z/Mon and expect additional cloud/snow development ahead of
the front. Conditions at KJAC will drop to IFR between about 23Z/Sun
and 04Z/Mon with the frontal band. Similar conditions anticipated as
the front advances east through KPNA and KBPI between 04Z-08Z/Mon.
Heaviest snow should be confined to a relatively brief period with
conditions improving to MVFR by 12Z/Mon. At KRKS, there could be a
brief 3-hour period of IFR between 06Z-09Z/Mon, but confidence in
low visibility is marginal. Gusty west-northwest post-frontal winds
will blow 20G30kts at KBPI and KPNA, while KRKS can expect 28G38kts.
These winds will prevail through 18Z/Mon. Mountain obscurations will
be widespread along and west of the Divide from 00Z-12Z/Mon, with
tops remaining obscured until 18Z/Mon.

EAST OF THE DIVIDE...KCOD/KCPR/KLND/KRIW/KWRL ROUTES

VFR conditions will prevail over the region through 06Z/Mon ahead of
an approaching cold front. Gusty pre-frontal southwest wind of 20-
40kts expected at KCPR and KLND through 00Z/Mon. Other terminals
will likely climb to 15-25kts as the afternoon wears on. Strong flow
aloft will lead to some wind shear with southwest wind of 40-50kts
between 010 and 020 MSL. Cold front will trudge east across the
region between 06Z-09Z/Mon at all terminals buy KCPR where passage
will be closer to 11Z/Mon. Post-front west-northwest wind will howl
across the Wind and Big Horn river basins. Increased these speeds
with this set of terminal forecasts. Best chance for a brief period
of light snow will come at KCOD and KWRL between 10Z-14Z/Mon. KCPR
may also get a brief shot from about 15Z-18Z/Mon. MVFR conditions
look possible during this time frame and would not be surprised to
see a brief period of IFR at each.

.FIRE WEATHER...

Fire Danger low across the forecast area through the week as a
continued decent existing snow pack combines with seasonal to
slightly below seasonal temperatures. However, gusty west to
southwest winds can be expected to increase this morning across the
ridgelines of the mountains in addition to portions of the lower
elevations of central and southern WY. Winds will be very gusty
all locations on Monday in conjunction with a frontal passage. Smoke
dispersion will be fair to very good across most of the forecast
area each afternoon through at least Tuesday.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

Moderate to occasionally heavy snow likely in the west. High
winds possible from east of Rock Springs through Casper with
breezy to strong winds possible across many other areas East of
the Divide. Snow and gusty winds will mix across portions of
southern Wyoming along and south of the Interstate 80 corridor
tonight.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday

Monday morning...Moderate snow and strong wind possible in the
Bighorn Mountains and Johnson County. Breezy to strong winds
expected at most locations east of the Divide.

Tuesday...Snow likely in the western mountains and far west
valleys. Windy conditions across southern Wyoming.
