Southern Washoe County in western Nevada... * Until 130 AM PST * At 1035 PM PST, Heavy rain has caused significant run off into the Steamboat Creek drainage and is causing storm drains to back in the area. Significant ponding of water in poor drainage and low lying areas along with flooding from the creek is likely through 2 am. * Some locations that will experience flooding include... Southeast Reno, Hidden Valley, Damonte Ranch, and Pleasant Valley. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. At 1123 PM PST, run off from moderate to heavy rain is causing Steamboat Creek to flow out of its banks. This overflow is also causing storm drains in parts of southeast Reno near Steamboat Creek to back up and flood streets in the area. Old highway 395 is currently closed south of Rhodes road due to water covering the highway. Some locations that will experience flooding include...
