This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for central North Carolina.

.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight.

An unseasonably strong cold front will move into the region tonight
through early Saturday. Scattered thunderstorms are expected to
develop ahead of the front, some of which may be severe. The primary
severe weather threat will be damaging wind gusts. The severe weather
threat appears greatest between 5 PM and 11 PM.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday.

No hazardous weather is expected at this time.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for central North Carolina.

.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight.

An unseasonably strong cold front will move into the region tonight
through early Saturday. Scattered thunderstorms will develop ahead
of the front. A few of the storms could become severe, with damaging
wind gusts the primary threat. An isolated weak tornado cannot be
ruled out. The severe weather threat appears to be best between 5 PM
and 11 PM.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday.

No hazardous weather is expected at this time.

EDT...

At 524 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a rapidly developing
strong thunderstorm over Cary, moving northeast at 15 mph.

Wind gusts up to 50 mph will be possible with this storm.

Locations impacted include...
Raleigh, Cary, Wake Forest, Garner, Rdu International, Apex,
Morrisville, Knightdale, Rolesville and William B Umstead State Park.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Seek shelter in a nearby building or vehicle. Wind gusts as high as
50 mph are capable of knocking down small or weakened trees.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is also occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm.

This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.

At 606 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a line of strong
thunderstorms along a line extending from near Pilot Mountain State
Park to near Clemmons to Linwood. Movement was northeast at 30 mph.

Wind gusts up to 50 mph will be possible with these storms.

Heavy rain and minor flooding and deadly cloud to ground lightning
will also be possible with these storms.

Locations impacted include...
Greensboro, Winston-Salem, High Point, Lexington, Thomasville,
Kernersville, Clemmons, Linwood, High Rock Lake and Lewisville.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Seek shelter in a nearby building or vehicle. Wind gusts as high as
50 mph are capable of knocking down small or weakened trees and
blowing around trash cans, and other light outdoor objects.

...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL AFFECT SOUTHERN VANCE AND FRANKLIN
COUNTIES UNTIL 715 PM EDT...

At 607 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over
Wake Forest, or 12 miles northeast of Raleigh, moving northeast at 20
mph.

Wind gusts up to 45 mph will be possible with this storm.

Locations impacted include...
Henderson, Louisburg, Franklinton, Kittrell, Bunn, Youngsville,
Ingleside and Gillburg.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Wind gusts of this magnitude are capable of producing tree damage,
including isolated instances of knocking down small or weakened
trees.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning and heavy rain are also occurring
with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a
thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
