The main risks from storms today will be lightning, gusty winds up to 45 mph and brief heavy rainfall. A few stronger storms may also produce hail up to the size of nickels, especially over the southern Sangre De Cristo range and along the New Mexico border. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday A few thunderstorms are possible in the mountains Saturday through Monday, while the rest of southeast Colorado will be dry. At 214 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Sugarite Canyon State Park, or 11 miles northeast of Raton, moving southeast at 20 mph. Half inch hail and winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with this storm.
