.SHORT TERM...Tonight through Friday. Upper ridging over the
northern Rockies will move to the east on Wed...allowing Pac
moisture to move into the fcst area. Light precip is expected to
move into the central mtns Wed aftn...then across the rest of the
area by Thu morn. The best chances will be in the upslope regions
of the central mtns and the upper Snake Highlands. Snow levels
will be running high due to the unseasonably warm temps...but will
fall somewhat on Thu as cooler air moves in. The central mtns may
see 2 to 5 inches above 8000 ft thru Thursday. Southwest winds
will pick up in the Snake River Plain Thu aftn. Upper ridging
builds back up Thu night...for dry conditions and rebounding
temps.

.LONG TERM...Friday night through Tuesday night. No major
changes made given decent run-to-run consistency among the models.
Shortwave will track to our north Saturday night into Sunday.
Both GFS/ECMWF maintain precip across the area, though the GFS
favors it along our Southern Highlands where the ECMWF favors
precip in the Central Mountains Sunday night. Some drying
associated with a transient ridge is supported by both models on
Monday night through Tuesday, but energy ahead of an upper low
migrates inland Tuesday night enhancing precip across much of the
area. Temperatures are expected to remain well above normal
through the period, especially Saturday ahead of the shortwave.
Introduced highs in the 70s over the Eastern Magic Valley, with
highs about 10 degrees cooler on Sunday. Hinsberger

.AVIATION....Upper ridge will continue to produce stable and dry
conditions for the next 24 hours. Fog/stratus not indicated by
current guidance, so expect VFR conditions to prevail. Hinsberger
