.SYNOPSIS...
Low pressure will bring rain and warm temperatures overnight
into Sunday. Snow showers and colder air will return for the
start of the new week.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TODAY/...
Deeper moisture, associated with blossoming precipitation just
south of I-70 in Ohio, will slowly spread northeastward through
the night as low pressure approaches. Adjusted PoPs based on the
latest hi res model guidance but generally kept the trend of
previous shifts...categorical precip until the front passage
this afternoon.

Warm advection overnight should support nearly steady or rising
temperatures, moderated slightly by anticipated rainfall. Values
will remain well above seasonal averages with a slightly early
reach to max temperatures with an afternoon cold front passage.

The low pressure system is expected to intensify before
transitioning to the coast. During this time, a tightening
pressure gradient will support some strong wind gusts through
the afternoon and into Sunday night. The HWO continues to
highlight the wind concerns, with a watch in effect for the
ridges, where the highest wind gusts are possible.

.SHORT TERM /TONIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY/...
Updated Sunday night through Monday morning for the inclusion of
High Wind Watch in the mountains of WV and MD. Guidance
continues to show deep mixing behind the cold front, tapping
into a stout 60+ knot jet near the descending tropopause.

Previous Discussion...
Wind gusts will really crank up Sunday evening, especially in
the ridges. The higher elevations appear likely to reach
advisory criteria and probably Warning criteria. In addition to
the winds, snow showers will pick up as well. There is some
uncertainty as to exactly when rain will change over to snow,
and considering the dynamics involve, the changeover could have
an impact on how much snow occurs. The typical locations in the
ridges and I-80 corridor will have the highest snowfall totals,
and the need for winter weather advisories can't be ruled out
in these areas.

Both wind gusts and snow should be settling down by Monday
morning, with accumulating snow expected to be over by Monday
afternoon. High pressure will enter the region on Monday and
bring a brief tranquil period. Highs will drop 5 to 10 degrees
below normal on Monday and rise back slightly above normal on
Tuesday.

.LONG TERM /TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY/...
As northwest flow develops through the middle part of the week,
cooler air will bring a chance of snow showers as temperatures
drop below normal once again. By Thursday night precipitation
chances should come to an end. Temperatures should moderate for
Friday and Saturday.

.AVIATION /05Z SUNDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...
MVFR cigs spreading north with low level moisture and light rain
will deteriorate to IFR late tonight into early Sunday morning as
low pressure crosses the region. Behind low by afternoon a cold
front will bring a wind shift 15-18Z with light easterly winds
becoming west to northwest with gusts to 30 KTs behind front. CIGs
will improve behind the front, but scattered restrictions in snow
showers will develop toward evening.

.OUTLOOK...
Restrictions can be expected into early Tuesday as cold flow in
the wake of the aforementioned low supports stratocu and snow
showers.
