DISCUSSION...
Most of the forecast appears to be on track this evening. Made
some slight adjustments to the weather forecast: removed freezing
drizzle across central/northern Oklahoma, and increased the
strength of the wording of freezing drizzle across the Red River
region.

All precipitation is too light to show up on radar, but various
reports suggest the freezing drizzle/snow line is currently in
southern Oklahoma. Isentropic forecasts indicate that there will
be sufficient lift/moisture for precipitation over much of the
southwest half of Oklahoma and western north Texas, but quantities
of precipitation should be very light.

We will keep the advisories as they are for now. It doesn't take
much freezing drizzle to cause serious travel problems. The Wind
Chill Advisory may need to be adjusted a little in later
forecasts, but without a more reliable wind chill forecast
(compared to the day shift's forecast), we will refrain from
making changes at this time.

North to northeast winds will decrease tonight before increasing
again from the north later Sunday.

DISCUSSION...
Forecast will focus on two potential hazards over the next few days.
The first will be the potential for freezing drizzle mainly this
evening and especially overnight. Model soundings across far
southern Oklahoma and western north Texas indicate a saturated
layer with a depth of around 3K feet. It appears the main
precipitation type will be freezing drizzle with a possible change
to snow by early Sunday morning. Farther north, the main precipitation
type should be light snow or flurries.

This evening, the wind may decrease briefly, but will certainly
increase overnight into Sunday as the bulk of the cold air moves
southward from the northern Plains and northern Rockies. As the
cold, dryer air deepens early Sunday, the risk of wintry
precipitation will end.

The second hazard will be bitterly cold wind chill values that will
occur Sunday into Monday. At this time, it appears the lowest
wind chill values will occur Sunday night into Monday. Therefore,
a Wind Chill Advisory will be issued for most of Oklahoma Sunday
night through late Monday afternoon.

Surface winds may briefly shift back to a southerly direction late
Tuesday, but another cold front will move across the southern
Plains on Wednesday. The airmass behind this front will not be as
cold, but below average temperatures will prevail.

.DAY ONE...Through Tonight...

.Winter weather...
Areas of light freezing drizzle and light snow will be possible,
especially this evening and overnight. Southern Oklahoma and
western north Texas will have a better chance of experiencing
light freezing drizzle which can create hazardous driving
conditions, especially bridges and overpasses.

.Cold...
A combination of cold temperatures and breezy north winds will
keep wind chills in the single digit and teens. Wind chill
readings will be at or just below freezing across northern
Oklahoma tonight.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday...

.Winter Weather...
There will be a chance of light snow Sunday morning across southern
Oklahoma into north Texas. No accumulations are expected, however
the snow could result in a few slick spots on area roadways,
especially bridges and overpasses.

.Cold...
Cold temperatures and very low wind chills are expected this
weekend into early next week. Wind chills will drop to about 5 to
15 degrees below zero late Sunday night through Monday morning.
