Southeastern Escambia County in northwestern Florida... * Until 1000 AM CDT * At 707 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Up to two inches of rain have already fallen. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly. * Some locations that will experience flooding include... Pensacola, Brent, West Pensacola and Goulding. Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are possible in the warned area. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. At 926 AM CDT, several reports of flooding due to heavy rain- producing thunderstorms in and around Pensacola. Observational networks indicate between 4 and 6 inches of rain have fallen since 3 am, especially between Interstate 110 and Escambia Bay, which has resulted in numerous reports of water over area roadways. Even though rainfall rates have tapered a bit since 830 am, additional rainfall will continue to result in water ponding on area roadways and other flood prone areas.
