The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Northern St. Lucie County in east central Florida...

* Until 515 AM EDT

* At 319 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated 
  persistent heavy rain bands producing excessive rainfall across 
  the warned area. Automated rain gauge reports indicate up to 8 to 
  9 inches of rain have fallen in the Fort Pierce area. This is 
  already leading to numerous impassable roadways in the warned area 
  and may also lead to water entering homes and businesses. 

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  Fort Pierce, White City, Indrio, and Queens Cove.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
