for the following rivers in Texas...
Rio Grande above Presidio 6WNW affecting Presidio County
Rio Grande at Presidio International Bridge affecting Presidio
County
. Thunderstorms that produced heavy rain yesterday have resulted in rises
along the Rio Grande from northwest of Presidio to southeast of Presidio.
Minor flooding is expected, however if additional rains develop this
afternoon flooding could be exacerbated.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Motorists are urged to heed flood warnings, and exercise caution if traveling
through this area. If you encounter a flooded stretch of roadway, do not attempt
to cross it. Turn around, don't drown!
River levels are high. Ranchers and farmers should move livestock and machinery
out of flood-prone areas if time permits.

...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Texas...
Rio Grande above Presidio 6WNW affecting Presidio County
Due to recent thunderstorm activity, river levels on the Rio
Grande above Presidio 6WNW are currently above flood stage, However,
levels are expected to fall below flood stage over the next couple of days.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Motorists are urged to heed flood warnings, and exercise caution if
traveling through this area. Vehicle-related fatalities are the
number one source of flood fatalities in West Texas and New Mexico.
If you encounter a flooded stretch of roadway, do not attempt to
cross it. You and your vehicle could be swept downstream in rushing
floodwaters. Turn around, don't drown!
River levels are high. Ranchers and farmers should move livestock
and machinery out of flood-prone areas if time permits.
Keep in mind that any additional rainfall across the area could
significantly change the present forecast stage.

Warning continues for
the Rio Grande above Presidio 6WNW.
* until Saturday afternoon, or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 1PM Thursday the stage was 9.6 feet (2.9 meters).
* flooding is occurring and flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 9.0 feet (2.7 meters).
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 10.0 feet (3.0
meters) by this evening. The river will fall below flood stage
Saturday morning.
* Impact...At 9.0 feet (2.7 meters), the river reaches minor flood
stage, and flooding between the levees occurs. No damage to
structures is expected.
This crest compares to a previous crest of 11.8 feet (3.6 meters) on
Jul 19 2017.

* Fell below flood stage at 22:15 PM Thursday.

* Forecast...The river will continue to fall to 6.2 feet (1.9 meters)
by tomorrow morning.
* Impact...At 7.0 feet (2.1 meters), the flood plain between the
levees begins to flood. No damage is expected.

Surface winds are less than 10kts and are expected to increase around 12kts btwn 15Z-18z. Otherwise mid clouds are drifting n from the Lower Trans Pecos. PoPs remain most favored INVOF mtns. && .PREV DISCUSSION... /issued 317 AM CDT Wed Jul 19 2017/ DISCUSSION... Looking like a carbon copy of yesterday as the upper ridge strengthens to our north and moisture remains entrenched across the higher terrain. Temperatures will stay near normal today in our area, but you don't have to go too far north to see triple digits closer to the center of the upper high. Scattered showers and storms will develop again by afternoon west of the Pecos River where lower mid level heights are to be had. Locally heavy rain is possible as PWATs remain high in these areas. This pattern will likely continue through the end of the work week with gradually increasing temperatures each day. The upper ridge shifts slightly to the east late in the week allowing a mid level disturbance to move west across TX. This system will reach W TX by Saturday and will act to lower heights significantly from what we are seeing now. This is looking similar to what we saw last weekend even though models are showing very low QPF amounts. Strong afternoon heating and enough atmospheric moisture should produce at least isolated showers and storms much of the weekend. Early next week, the ridge looks to reestablish itself over TX, but in a weaker state.
