* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 9.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will continue to fall to below flood stage by
tomorrow afternoon.
* Impacts at 9.0 feet...Low swampy timberland along the river begins
to flood. Flood gates should be closed and equipment moved out of
the low grounds along the river and tributaries.

Area Forecast Discussion....Updated for Aviation National Weather Service Little Rock AR 530 AM CST Wed Mar 8 2017 .AVIATION... VFR conditions are expected through tonight. It will be mostly sunny today, with perhaps a few high clouds. There will be some increase in clouds tonight, especially across the southern half of the state. Clouds may lower enough in southwest Arkansas to create brief MVFR ceilings toward dawn Thursday. Winds will vary from southeast to southwest at 6 to 12 mph today. Winds will be light and variable tonight. (46) && .SHORT TERM...Today Through Thursday Night High pressure will bring very dry air today. Afternoon humidity levels will drop below 30 percent across much of Arkansas, which will create an elevated wildfire danger. This will especially be the case in the northwest where drought conditions exist. Other than some cirrus today, it will be mostly sunny. As the high shifts to the east tonight and Thursday, clouds will gradually increase from the southwest. As the period comes to a close, a cold front will approach from the north. Ahead of the front, isolated showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast Thursday afternoon in the southwest half of the state. Precipitation will become a little more widespread Thursday night, mainly across the northern/eastern counties. This will not be a big rain producer, with perhaps some quarter to half inch amounts in places. As far as temperatures, readings will be above average. && .LONG TERM...Friday Through Tuesday Northwest flow will be over Arkansas to begin the long term period with an upper ridge over the Rockies. The upper ridge does not move much through the period and the northwest flow continues through the period. A cold front moves through the state Friday and will bring showers to the area...and a short wave on Saturday will bring isolated thunderstorms. Colder air will filter into Arkansas Saturday night but should enter the state after precipitation ends. Below freezing temperatures are expected over the north half of the state Sunday morning. Another cold front on Monday will bring a chance of showers. Mild temperatures are expected through most of the period. Isolated strong to possibly severe thunderstorms may develop Thursday afternoon and night as a new storm system moves across Arkansas. The potential for severe storms will greatest across the northern third of the state. However, widespread severe weather is not expected at this time. A new cold front will move through the region from the north on Friday, with precipitation shunted to the south. A storm system tracking along the front will bring rain back to the area on Saturday, and it will turn cooler. By Sunday morning, a freeze is in the forecast north of Little Rock.
