.SYNOPSIS...High pressure will gradually build east from the
mid-Mississippi valley through early Friday. A cold front will
move through the area Saturday. High pressure builds over the
area for the second half of the weekend.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...Blustery conditions expected today as
cold air advection and gusty winds continue across the area.
Today will be cold with temperatures barely reaching freezing
with the exception of the central foothills and southern
maryland where temps will reach the mid 30s.

A shortwave trough will move across the region this morning. Behind
it...a 40-50kt 850mb jet will move across the outlook area by
afternoon. Northwest flow will lead to ample mixing today and winds
20-30mph with gusts 45-50 mph are expected. A wind advisory will
be issued this morning for much of the outlook area. Impacts may be
slightly greater than most wind advisory days as snow and ice are
still on many trees and powerlines. This may cause more damage.Iso-
sct snow showers are expected as the shortwave trough moves across
the region today. A cold boundary layer will lead to the potential
for a quick dusting in snow showers. Best chance will be across
northeast Maryland. Upslope snow showers will also continue this
morning but taper off behind the trough passage. A winter weather
advisory is effect through the morning for the upslope region.
Additional snowfall amounts of around an inch are expected.

Northwest flow continues tonight and breezy conditions are expected.
Temperatures will range from the single digits/teens in the mtns to
the low 20s around the I-95 corridor.

.SHORT TERM /THURSDAY THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT/...The upper level trough
will migrate to the east Thursday while high pressure moves to
our SW. Dry conditions expected Thursday however northwest flow
continues through Thursday night. This will keep temperatures
below normal with highs in the 30s/L40s and lows in the
teens/20s.

High pressure moves to the south on Friday while a warm front
approaches from the west. Precipitation will approach the Potomac
Highlands. Warm air aloft may cause wintry mix across
the far western Potomac Highlands where sfc temps will still be
below freezing. Confidence is low at this time due to the timing of
the light amts of qpf moving into the region. Temps will warm
through the day and rain showers are expected through the afternoon.
Temperatures will likely not drop much Friday night as warm air
advection continues across the region. A cold front will likely
cross Friday night-Saturday morning.

.LONG TERM /SATURDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/...Cdfnt will be crossing
the area around 12Z Sat with rain showers ending. Becoming windy
Sat night and Sun as pres gradient tightens as low pressure
intensifies south of Nova Scotia. High pressure builds over the
area Sun night into Mon. High pressure shifts south Mon with
warm air advection precip (mainly rain) developing Mon night
and Tue morning with fropa in the afternoon. High pressure then
builds again for the middle of next week. Temps will be near
average or below normal next week.

.AVIATION /07Z WEDNESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY/...Prevailing VFR conditions
expected through Thursday night. NW winds continue during this
time. Windy conditions expected today with NW winds 25-30kts
G40-45kt across the terminals with the exception of CHO where
winds will be slightly less. -SNSH is possible mainly across
MRB-BWI-MTN this morning into early afternoon. Brief reductions
in vsbys are possible.

-SHRA possible Friday-Friday night and flight restrictions are
possible.

A Gale Warning is in effect for all waters Wednesday.

Wind gusts of 45 to 50 mph are possible over land Wednesday. A
wind advisory may be necessary.

northern and central Virginia, and central and western Maryland
with the exception of Garrett County.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect along and west of the
Allegheny Front.

A Wind Chill Advisory is in effect for the Blue Ridge Mountains
and eastern Highland and eastern Pendleton counties.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect along and west of the
Allegheny Front until 2 PM Wednesday.

The Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM Wednesday
for the Blue Ridge Mountains and eastern Highland and eastern
Pendleton counties.

Wind gusts around 45 to 50 mph are possible Wednesday...especially
across northern and central Maryland...northern Virginia and
eastern west Virginia. A wind advisory may be necessary.
